Jack initially came into possession of the gun after Oscar found it in Harry’s rather rubbish hiding place… and things only spiralled from there. Going to Jack, Oscar managed to palm the gun off on his police officer uncle… only for it to go missing again a few hours later. Ravi was spotted by Denise after stealing the gun back, leading to a violent confrontation between himself and Jack. And, as they wrestled over the gun, a shot was fired into the night. It remains to be seen who will be hit – and whether they survive – but this whole thing could have very much been avoided. Here are four things about last night’s episode which made no sense. Why didn’t Jack report the gun straight away? Jack was furious when he discovered that Oscar had stashed a gun in the house. Why was he so mad at Oscar for turning in a gun to him, a literal police officer? And why didn’t he report it straight away rather than compromise himself by hiding it? “I know it needed to play out the way it did for storyline reasons but realistically, why couldn’t Jack just call 999 and report that his nephew came to him after he found a gun?” asked one fan. “Oscar got a gun off the streets gave it to jack (a detective) & jack is mad because?” pointed out another. Ravi broke in to get his gun back (Credit: BBC) 2. How did Ravi know where the gun was? Leaving the gun at home, Jack took Oscar outside, where they headed to The Vic together. With the coast clear, Ravi headed inside to steal the gun back. “I’m confused with Tonight’s EastEnders. How did Ravi know the gun was in Jack’s house?” asked one fan. “How did Ravi know where the gun was?” another concurred. Ravi could be seen walking by as Oscar and Jack discussed the gun, so he could conceivably have heard – although he’d have to have very good hearing from that distance. After being told by Denise that she’d seen Ravi sneaking out of their house, Jack stormed over to have it out with Ravi. He demanded the gun back, but Ravi refused, telling Jack that he’d need a warrant… he then flashed the gun at him as he stalked off. “Since when did a police officer need a search warrant to arrest someone standing in front of them with a gun?” asked one fan on Reddit. “I thought this, Ravi literally flashed it at him!” another said. “This was exactly what I thought! Why didn’t he just arrest him!” a third agreed. Instead of calling for back-up, Jack just had to play the big man and make the situation worse. And, as for Ravi… What have Jack and Ravi done? (Credit: BBC) 4. Why did Ravi behave like that? Jack wasn’t the only one handling the situation spectacularly badly. Granted, we know Ravi can be a bit of a hothead, but what possessed him to threaten – and then attempt to attack – police officer Jack with a gun in the first place? “Ravi trying to assault Jack with the gun, what a stupid thing to do, Jack could nick him!” exclaimed one viewer. “I mean i can’t believe Ravi thought he could kill Jack right outside his house,” said another.
