Julie and Nigel celebrate their big day in EastEnders

The day gets off to a great start, with Julie in her new outfit, ready for her big moment. She’s thrilled when Nigel tells her how beautiful she looks, happy to see a glimpse of the man she fell in love with.

However, as Julie heads off to put the finishing touches to the event, Nigel gets confused and wanders over to see Phil.  He assumes that Phil is his best man. It breaks Phil’s heart to see his best friend so confused.

Worried that the vow renewal might not be the best thing for Nigel right now, Phil tries to talk Julie out of going ahead. At first, she is adamant that this is what they both want. However, when Phil reminds her of Nigel wetting himself in front of a big crowd at his film screening last year, she realises it might be too much.

With Julie gone, Phil talks to Nigel about what he wants. However, he is determined to get married for a second time and tells Phil he wants to go ahead.

EastEnders: Julie and Nigel say ‘I do’

Meanwhile, Julie arrives at the bar where everyone is gathered, ready for the ceremony. Julie starts to tell everyone that they won’t be having a vow renewal, as it is too much for Nigel. However, he turns up with Phil, surprising her.

Thrilled that their celebration is going ahead, Julie talks about how they both met as the ceremony gets underway. However, Nigel can’t remember anything she is talking about and gets agitated.

As he realises everyone is watching him, he starts to panic and asks to go home. However, Phil steps in and gets Nigel to repeat his vows after him… calming the situation down.

After the happy couple has said ‘I do’ for a second time, Nigel asks Phil to take him home. Phil tells Julie that he will take him to the B&B, but she tells him ‘home’ is his house, and so they agree to both move back in with Phil.

Tragedy strikes for Nigel

Things are looking up as Mark helps Julie bring her bags from the B&B back to Phil’s. Phil tries to talk to her about the care home calling, but she shuts him down, not wanting to talk about Nigel going into a home on her big day.

However, the happy moment doesn’t last for long, because there’s more trouble around the corner.

As Phil helps Nigel into the bath, he gets distracted by Mark. Pleased that everyone is friends again, Mark tells Phil that it is a good job he didn’t go to Portugal after all, and that he did him a favour.

Phil is fuming that it was Mark who stopped his plan to leave with Nigel. But while he is getting cross, he completely forgets about Nigel, who is falling asleep in the bath and going under the water.

Things don’t look good for poor Nigel. Will Phil manage to save him before it is too late?
