BBC/Composite: EastEnders Insider Share By Joel Harley Aug 30 2025 By Joel Harley Aug 30 2025 EastEnders review: Ross and Vicki are clueless, Anthony's insufferable, and Zoe's coming home Things really began to heat up this week Anthony Trueman Features Ross Marshall Vicki Fowler Zoe Slater Share By Joel Harley Aug 30 2025 By Joel Harley Aug 30 2025 It was the calm before the storm in our EastEnders review this week, as the pieces began to fall into place for Zoe Slater’s imminent return to Walford. As Alfie’s lies finally came to light, both Tommy and Kat learned that he’d been in touch with Zoe. Another piece came and went as Harry was handed a gun to deal with, and then promptly lost it. Meanwhile, Oscar set the Truemans at each other’s throats after confessing to his attack on Patrick. A recently-returned Anthony soon clashed with both Oscar and Howie, furious at what had gone on in his absence. The real question, though, is: was Anthony always this annoying? And, after throwing a temper tantrum in the cafe (not very Alpha of you), Joel tested his dad’s gentle parenting approach to the limit. But it was Ross who got an earful from Vicki. Here’s our review of this week’s EastEnders. After admitting the truth to Tommy, Alfie was forced to let Kat into his secret after a brutal devastating between mother and son. Kat took it better than we thought she would, although she was more distracted by Tommy’s sudden disappearance in the hours following. And where had Tommy gone? He’d achieved in hours what Alfie had spent weeks failing to do – he’d found Zoe Slater! While Kat’s reaction might not be what we’d anticipated, it’s a relief to be putting shame-faced, whispery Alfie behind us. And, as the week wrapped up, Tommy arrived on his estranged sister’s doorstep, ready to do the other thing Alfie had completely failed to do… bring Zoe home! Amid everything that went down, the second-best line of the week went to Kat Slater, who angrily quipped to Alfie: “Not very good at finding my kids, are you?” Quite. Ross was furious to learn what Joel had been up to (Credit: BBC) Joel threw a tantrum The line of the week? That’d be Amy, who showed Joel exactly what she thought of his Alpha Male routine by slamming his ‘incel boyband curtains.‘ Joel reacted to this savage burn by throwing a fit, lobbing a chair across the cafe as he ranted and raged. After being kicked out by Marie, Joel returned home, where Amy had informed Ross and Vicki what he’d done. Appalled, Ross backtracked on his new gentle parenting approach, pinning his tearful son against the wall. It was then that Vicki intercepted, telling Ross that he was to blame, for setting a bad example for Joel. Someone had to say it, but Vicki’s hardly blameless herself. Lest we forget how, only weeks ago, she was the one shoving Joel up against a wall with threats of violence. And what about that time she paid off one of his literal assault victims? And kept her mouth shut about Joel’s threats and attempted violence upon Avani. Regardless of who’s to blame, it was a good week for seeing Joel getting his just desserts. Between Amy’s savage takedown and Ross making him blub again, there was also that juicy interaction with Ravi, who sent the little boy running off with his tail between his legs. Job’s a good ‘un? (Credit: BBC) EastEnders review: Harry lost Okie’s gun Harry fell even further down a dark path this week, when a gun was introduced to the situation. After finally stepping up to Okie, Harry found himself suddenly staring down the barrel of a gun. Thankfully, Ravi intervened, once again registering his disappointment at Okie’s recklessness. He charged Harry with hiding the firearm, but poor Harry’s hardly the brightest tool in The Arches. Not wanting to risk stashing it at Kojo’s (where, to be fair, it could end up getting flushed down a toilet), he decided to bury it. If that’s what you can call it. Instead, he stashed the gun beneath a few pebbles under a paving slab, in a nearby patch of land. By the time he returned, the gun was gone. But who’s taken it? Oscar’s the likeliest culprit, having seen Harry emerge from where he’d hidden it… but what would Oscar want with a gun? He’s supposed to be the good son, don’t you know (Credit: BBC) EastEnders review: Anthony was insufferable Take a shot every time Anthony said ‘I’m supposed to be the good son,’ in this week’s EastEnders. You’ll only have had two shots, but you’ll need them to deal with the smug look on Anthony’s face as he reads everyone the riot act. Also taking a shot – Howie, to the mouth, as Anthony got violent. The boys made amends by the end of the week, but it’s clear Anthony doesn’t trust Howie. He’s right on this occasion (Howie did take the money), but at what cost? Between threatening Oscar and getting all high-and-mighty with Patrick’s family (family who have been there for Patrick over the last decade), Anthony’s throwing his weight around got old fast. Especially since, amid the ‘good son’ act, he seems to have forgotten about how he once let his brother take the rap on his own drink driving charge. As the week ended, Patrick had decided to postpone the wedding, after being unable to overcome his fear and sense of anxiety. Heartbreaking scenes followed, as Yolande admitted to Denise her fear that she was losing Patrick to his ordeal. Will they make it down the aisle?
