But help is on hand from best mate Phil, who vows not to let Nigel end up in prison. But what plan does he have up his sleeve? Nigel’s in a spot of hot water (Credit: BBC) Nigel is facing an uncertain future in EastEnders spoilers Nigel’s dementia storyline has taken another heartbreaking turn, which could see the legacy character die in prison. He’s been charged with dangerous driving, after mowing down Jasmine and Gina with his car. Viewers know dementia-stricken Nigel shouldn’t have been driving the vehicle after the DVLA took away his license. Julie attempted to cover up her husband’s involvement, by claiming she was the one behind the wheel. But the guilt proved too much for Nigel, who later handed himself into the police. There was further devastation when Nigel told Julie they’d have to cancel their trip to India because his dementia is now too advanced. With their dream holiday cancelled, the couple fear what might happen next as Nigel faces the consequences of his actions. Having had no idea what’s been going on in his absence, Phil is horrified to realise Nigel could be sent down. In his usual hot-headed manner, Phil turns on Julie, accusing her of being responsible for the mess Nigel is in. However, Phil soon realises the error of his ways when Jack lets him know what really happened. Phil acknowledges he was too harsh on Julie and apologises. He also gets super brief Ritchie on the case to try and ensure Nigel doesn’t end up under lock and key. Can Phil find a way to support his old friend? The thought of going to jail is absolutely terrifying, and Nigel knows there’s no way he would be able to cope in such an environment. With Nigel in a complete panic, Phil and Julie vow to stick together and help him. They accompany Nigel to his medical assessment, hoping for a positive outcome. Will Nigel be spared prison?
