1. Jasmine’s true identity revealed

Newcomer Jasmine quickly bagged herself a job at The Albert upon her arrival this week. She’s already caught the eye of Oscar Branning and Cindy Beale seems really taken with her.

But it’s become very clear very quickly that Jasmine isn’t all that she seems. While some fans are convinced she is Zoe Slater’s secret son who has transitioned, others think she has a darker connection to Walford than that.

As Jasmine admitted to being from a family of criminals and was also shady about providing her paperwork for the job, fans are convinced she is from one criminal family in particular: the Ford clan.

Jackie Ford is the woman who Cindy informed on in prison and was put into witness protection for. Although she is now dead, hence why Cindy has her whole life back, is Jasmine a relative out for revenge? And if so, is Cindy in terrible danger?

2. Zoe past continues to haunt her in EastEnders spoilers

Zoe Slater made her surprise return earlier this year, amid a cloud of mystery and lies. After months of speculation, the soap finally revealed what Zoe had been up to since leaving Walford in 2005 – she’d given birth to twins in 2006, and given her surviving son up for adoption.

Poor Zoe probably should have stayed away from Walford. She hadn’t been back five minutes when she copped a bullet from Jack and Ravi, who had been battling it out on the Square nearby. As paramedics rushed her to the hospital, her troubled past was revealed – including a surprising Max Branning connection.

It turned out that the grubby Greg Dolan was still alive, and out for revenge. But with Dolan now out of the picture, Zoe’s past remains problematic.

She is desperate to find her son and reconnect with him after all these years. But is she lying about his father in order to get money out of Sharon?

And what will happen when she is reunited with him? Will it be all she hoped for? Or is Zoe set for more heartache ahead?

2. Max’s explosive comeback derails Stacey’s exit

The soap recently revealed that Max Branning shared a surprising connection with Zoe Slater, coming crashing back into the Slater family’s lives in the wake of her shooting.

With Max’s full-time return imminent, he will arrive on-screen for Lauren’s wedding to Peter. But as father and daughter go head-to-head is that the real reason he’s come back to Walford?

And with Stacey’s exit also nearing, will he throw her plans into chaos?

This is not to mention the fact he has a secret daughter, Annie, who he knows nothing of. What will happen when Linda returns and the pair reconnect?

3. Joel’s out of control in EastEnders spoilers

Joel continues to prove a handful as his behaviour worsens. After discovering Stacey’s SecretCam account, he leaked her pictures and videos online, hoping to ‘punish’ her for speaking out to him in The Vic.

His already unpredictable, volatile behaviour was exacerbated when he learned that Avani was pregnant with his child but chose to have an abortion. After an explosive confrontation, he threatened Vicki with a ‘slapping,’ proving that his issues are only worsening. And, after a shocking outburst in the cafe, Ross was forced to reckon with the results of his own parenting.

An increasingly desperate Vicki turned to Julie for help, but Joel won’t be so easily swayed. With both Ben Wadey and star Alice Haig teasing a shocking end to Joel’s story, things are only going to get worse before they get better.

How dangerous is Joel? And will Tommy ever see the light where is friend is concerned?

4. Dark times ahead for Harry, George, Kojo and the Knight family

Last month, actor Colin Salmon revealed that the soap had a ‘really disturbing’ storyline planned for George and his family. This comes as George’s brother, Kojo, has become caught up in Ravi and Okie’s drugs operation, in a heart-wrenching ‘cuckooing’ storyline.

Ravi targeted George after growing worried about his continued suspicion, to Harry’s horror. Harry and Kojo were successful in convincing George to leave Walford for a while, but can the situation be so easily resolved?

And what does the impending exit of Anna Knight mean for the family? And can Harry ever extricate himself from Ravi’s drugs operation?

5. Bye-bye Freddie and Stacey in EastEnders spoilers

Zoe may have recently returned, but the Slater ranks will be thinned again before the year ends. Both Bobby Brazier and Lacey Turner are set to leave the soap in upcoming scenes, in two major storylines which will air later this year.

Of Bobby’s exit, an EastEnders rep revealed to The Sun: “We can confirm that Bobby Brazier will be leaving EastEnders, and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Meanwhile, Lacey will also exit the soap, although the BBC will be leaving the door open for her return. “We can confirm that Lacey will be off-screen later this year,” a soap insider revealed. “But there is plenty of more drama to come beforehand and we will look forward to planning Stacey’s return when Lacey decides the time is right.”
