John's a very lucky man

Emmerdale fans are desperate for John Sugden to get his comeuppance, as Tracy found herself arrested for Nate’s murder tonight.

In Emmerdale tonight (June 12), Tracy Robinson gave the police a false alibi, and it ultimately blew up in her face when Vanessa failed to back it up.

And John was caught out by Aaron when he hid a visiting request from Robert. But in true John fashion he was able to quickly get Aaron to move past it. However, the longer it goes on, the more fans are desperate for it to end.

Fans want John to be brought to justice

The lies keep coming, and there is still no sign that John will be brought to justice any time soon. However, fans are not happy with the storyline dragging on, begging Emmerdale to finish it soon.

Taking to X, one viewer begged: “End this stupid John storyline and send him to jail.”

Another added: “Hopefully this storyline with John Sugden is over before September..”

“I hope people find out about John killing Nate soon” a third penned.

The John storyline has been going on for months and months. So, it makes sense that fans are wanting to see the back of it. Especially as it’s becoming more frustrating that nobody can see it’s him.

While we don’t exactly know when John will be leaving the show, it’s inevitable that the truth will come out. And there are a few reasons that we think it may be soon.

What we know about the future of John in Emmerdale

John actor Oliver Farnworth spoke to Manchester Evening News about his time on Emmerdale, and hinted that John may be gone in the summer – as he was brought on for a one-year contract.

He said: “If it was a three-month contract and they said ‘You have a dark past and secrets’, you would think, ‘Right this could escalate quickly’. But because I had a year contract, I was drip fed certain things.”

As Oliver stated one year, that means John could potentially be leaving our screens in August. Which also neatly ties up with the beginning of Aaron and Mackenzie’s huge storyline.

Recently, show boss Laura Shaw, confirmed Mackenzie and Aaron will be part of a big week of episodes from the end of summer.

She said: “We’ve got big stuff for Aaron and Mackenzie towards the end of summer into Autumn. We have a big week of episodes planned there that is going to be life-changing for those two.”

And who isn’t mentioned in her description of the storyline? John.

As he fails to be brought up, it leads us to believe he will already be gone by then.

What happened in Emmerdale tonight? (Thursday)

Things got very dramatic in Emmerdale tonight, and Tracy found herself in deep water with the police.

Here's a full rundown of what happened in Emmerdale tonight.

Tracy got arrested for murder in Emmerdale tonight

When the detective tells Tracy they believe Nate was murdered the day he supposedly left the village, Tracy lied and said she was with Vanessa.

But Vanessa struggled with the thought of lying to the police, and opens up to Rhona about Tracy's behaviour recently.

When she was asked to give a formal statement, Vanessa failed to line up with Tracy's alibi.

And so the detective walked into the pub, right as Tracy and Ruby were fighting, and arrested her for Nate's murder.

Charles and Liam try to make Cain feel better in Emmerdale tonight

While drowning his sorrows in the pub, Charles tried to bond with Cain over both having dead sons. But Cain was harsh, and Liam overheard, making him instantly regretful.

The three of them proceed to drink whiskey and open up about losing their kids. And soon enough their joined by Moira, Ruby, Aaron and of course, John. But just as they're raising a toast, Tracy walked in and had a go at Cain.

Ruby got involved and when she threw it all back in Tracy's face, Tracy lost it and slapped her. Ruby retaliated and a fight between them broke out. But it was interrupted by the detective arriving to arrest Tracy.

John tried to hide Robert's visiting request

While flicking through their mail, John is on edge to spot a visiting request from Robert addressed to Aaron. He quickly hides it and pretends that he is just worried about Cain.

He checks to see if Aaron is relieved now that Cain is off the hook, but Aaron is dismissive, leaving John upset.

Feeling guilty, John headed to see Tracy and told her he knows she didn't kill Nate (open your eyes Tracy!!).

But when he arrived home, he opened the letter from Robert, just as Aaron walked in.

They went back and forth about whether or not Aaron still loved Robert, but in the end, Aaron threw the letter in the bin.

Eve was put in danger in Emmerdale tonight

Mandy and Paddy were struggling as Bear had been spending most nights listening to the TV on full volume, and made an appointment for him to see Liam.

He reluctantly told Liam that he was having trouble sleeping because he feels like he is just waiting for each day to end. And so Liam gave him some sleeping pills.

But when he headed to the shop to get Eve some sweets, Paddy and Mandy fell asleep. And so Eve found Bear's pills and opened them up.

Thankfully when Mandy and Paddy woke up and realised what had happened, Eve hadn't actually eaten any. But when Bear returned home, Paddy was quick to blame him for the whole situation - leading to a huge fallout.

Kammy stole from Home Farm

Gabby quickly realised Vinny forgot their anniversary, and he sets about to make things right. And in doing so, he enlisted help from Kammy.

Kammy was shocked to see the inside of Home Farm for the first time, and immediately eyed up Clemmie's unopened new phone. But Vinny interrupted him.

Vinny recreated his and Gabby's first date, and all was forgiven. But whilst they were enjoying themselves, Kammy was trying to sell Clemmie's phone - which he had stolen.

Eric made a decision about Kerry in Emmerdale tonight

Kerry and Jacob threw a surprise party for Eric and he was thrilled. But Kerry overheard him telling Rodney he was thinking of selling the barn.

When she confronted him about it, he informed her he had changed his mind and is going to rent it out instead.

Eric explained that he would move in with Jacob, and asked if she would come too, leaving Kerry thrilled.
