Emmerdale fans side with Dr Todd over bullying drama as they insist 'Jacob is not the innocent victim'
Todd is making Jacob's life a miseryThere’s been a lot of sniffling, shouting and stress from Jacob in Emmerdale lately as he deals with Dr Todd’s bullying behaviour. Only, fans aren’t sure she actually is bullying him.
In fact, many are convinced in the real world Jacob would have been out of a job ages ago and Todd is being more lenient with him than she should be.

Jacob and Dr Todd in Emmerdale
Dr Todd first began mentoring Jacob in January 2025 and it seemed she was a firm but fair type. She was tough on him, but also compassionate when circumstances demanded.
However that has all changed now and Dr Todd is clearly singling Jacob out. She is giving him a hard time and the strain is causing him to struggle.
She’s also put him on her mentor programme, which ups the pressure as it means double the amount of work and double the amount of time spent with her. She then tried to pass off his research as her own.
Things hit an all-time low last night when Dr Todd’s dad went into cardiac arrest and Jacob started CPR. Rich pointed out he was DNR, but Jacob knew Todd would blame him if her dad died and he didn’t do anything.
When Jacob successfully saved him, Dr Todd laid into him. She told him he’d made a dreadful error.
Todd even accused Jacob of assaulting her father. Jacob snapped back and Todd sent him home, shouting that he was useless, he would never complete his training and he’d never be a doctor.
That’s when Jacob lost control. He was hysterical in the car and sped round the corner, knocking Cain over.

Is Dr Todd bullying Jacob in Emmerdale?
The soap has already revealed that this is a workplace bullying storyline. It will see Todd continue to find fault and criticise Jacob, pushing him to the edge.
Some fans think there is more to it. They have spotted similarities between her and Maya Stepney – who groomed Jacob when he was just 15.
However, others think that actually Dr Todd is in the right. They have exclaimed they can’t see where the soap is going with this because Jacob is very clearly in the wrong…

Fan reaction
“Are we meant to feel bad for Jacob?” asked one on Reddit. “Sure, Dr Todd is very strongly worded, but as far as I’m aware, the majority of times she’s had a go at him, he has genuinely created the problem…
“I get that she is way too harsh for some things, but Jacob is not the innocent victim here. He chose a career where people can literally die by the smallest mistakes, and yet he doesn’t stop making them.”
Another agreed wholeheartedly: “Jacob is dangerously incompetent and should have been kicked off his course at the very least on multiple occasions.”
“Yeah, sometimes the doctor is mean to him but he’s traumatised people, abused patients and put others and himself at risk. He NEEDS harsh words or to leave,” added a third.
A fourth wrote: “I feel like we’re supposed to sympathise with him but i really struggle to the vast majority of the time. Yes the way Dr. Todd speaks to him isn’t very pleasant but he’s made multiple massive [bleeps] which in real life would land any medical professional in a lot of trouble.”
“I have no idea how they’re going to pull off this storyline as bullying,” shared a fifth. “Doctors have to be tough on medical students because their jobs literally could mean life or death for someone.”
A sixth quipped: “Can’t fault her for harsh and strict when she’s trying to teach an idiot not to kill someone.”

So is Dr Todd a bully?
However some were able to see both sides. While Jacob is incompetent does Todd have to be so hard?
“Jacob is clearly not a particularly good student, but she is also a bully, and not creating a good environment for him to improve,” asserted one. “She’s actively relishing making his life difficult, as shown by her little smile today.”
Another simply summed it up: “He’s incompetent. She’s a bully.”
