John Sugden’s massive secret was revealed, Ness stopped whining and Joe’s totally fine – it’s been a week to remember in Emmerdale!

We're totally invested in John's complicated, confusing and creepy storyline!

Our Emmerdale review is remarkably upbeat this week, given how much drama there’s been!

But that’s because we loved this week’s dramatic and revealing episodes! Frankly the soap was must-see telly as the massive secret John Sugden has been keeping was revealed! We loved getting answers to all the questions we’ve been asking for months – but the downside is we’ve got loads more we want to know now.

Anyway, John being a sinister killer wasn’t the only thing we were loving this week. There was Vanessa, Tracy, Kerry, and all sorts going on.

Here’s our round-up of the action in this week’s Emmerdale review.

John Sugden’s a killer! (We totally knew it! Sort of.)

The secret is out! John Sugden’s a murderer who saves lives! It’s confusing and complicated and super-sinister and we absolutely love it.

John started the week fretting about his talking in his sleep – what was he worried about revealing to Aaron, eh? Well, we didn’t have to wait long to find out because we were treated to a series of flashbacks filling in all the gaps about John Sugden.

And blimey! That was something we were not expecting.

First up we saw John visit someone in hospital – a man who seemed to be in a coma.

Because it turned out John’s got a hero complex and a penchant for putting friends into life-threatening scenarios so he can save them!

He killed Nate! And we sort of predicted that but not like this! He drugged Chas! He poisoned Jacob!

This story definitely different from soap serial killers we’ve seen in the past and we’re already invested.

We’re desperate to know if the man in the hospital bed is Aidan Moore, or someone else entirely. And we’re also desperate for John’s killer instinct to take over and for him to murder someone else.

In fact, we’ve got quite a long list of people in Emmerdale who we’d like John to take out next, so if you’re reading this, John, and you need some ideas, give us a shout!

Sarah’s behaving badly

Yes we get that Sarah’s had a hard time with her life-limiting illness, and her heart transplant, and basically being abandoned by her mum, yadda, yadda, yadda.

But locking poor Rodney in a truck and not even being sorry about it, wasn’t great. And we were slightly on Nicola’s side when she said Sarah needed to be punished (this is the second week in a row that we’ve agreed with Nicola. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!)

Anyway, we did like Sarah standing up for herself to her grandparents Cain and Charity, and on a similar vein, we loved Gabby giving Kim a piece of her mind, too. The next generation of feisty Emmerdale ladies is waiting in the wings!

Vanessa’s back!

Ness has been getting on our wick, with her performative grieving and blaming Mary for her relationship with Suzy being a bit rubbish. And this week she hit rock bottom. After way too much white wine, Vanessa let rip in the pub – she told Rhona what she thought of her, and then she told Pollard that Tracy had been nicking his money.

It was rough! But throughout the tirade all we couldn’t help noticing that Charity was looking at Vanessa in a way that suggested she still has feelings for her. She looked sad and sympathetic and worried all at once. While Chas, watching on next to her, munched on a sandwich like she was watching telly!

Anyway, turned out Ness getting drunk and puking was like ripping off a plaster. Because after she’d thrown up half a bottle of Savvy B, she and Rhona kissed and made-up (at a distance!). And she apologised to Tracy and persuaded her to stay. And order was restored. Until the next drama (*stares at Charity*)

Emmerdale review: Tracy and Kerry cleared the air

Speaking of thieving Mrs Robinson, another drama came to a conclusion this week when Kerry and Tracy shared a heart-to-heart.

We have long been bothered by how Kerry and Amy’s actions caused the death of Tracy and Vanessa’s dad Frank Clayton in the factory explosion. And not only that, they let the whole village think he was a wrong’un and never paid for the crime.

But now, Amy’s dead – a punishment that very definitely fitted the crime. And this week Kerry and Tracy talked about everything that happened, and agreed to put it behind them. We reckon it’s time for us to move on, too.

Joe’s miraculous recovery

Well, isn’t Joe Tate looking marvellous after his dramatic kidney transplant? What a silly storyline that is. Or was. Is it done now? Is he still a baddie? Does he really love Dawn? It’s hard to care, to be honest.

Emmerdale review: Who sent the flowers?

Right at the end of this week, a bouquet of flowers arrived Chez Miligan with a note reading ‘I’m coming for you’, signed Anthony!

We’re pretty sure Anthony didn’t send them (though we’re also not convinced he’s really dead). And we’re wondering if Jai Sharma could be to blame?

Whoever’s behind the sinister present, though, it looks like the drama is just beginning and we are here for that!
