Since arriving in the village last year, John has suffered with a hero complex. His desperation to be the hero resulted in Nate Robinson’s death, while he also put many other villagers in danger. With Robert back in the Dales, fans are more desperate than ever for John to get his comeuppance. Viewers have spotted clues that John may soon be caught out, but who will be the one to bring him down? Robert is desperate to get rid of John (Credit: ITV) Robert Sugden to expose John in Emmerdale The obvious answer is Robert Sugden. Nobody dislikes John more than Robert at the moment, so he’s the one most likely to put in the effort to expose him. Robert returned to the village last month, but he was unsuccessful in stopping his ex, Aaron Dingle, marrying John. However, Robert has made it clear he knows John is hiding something, even questioning if Robert really is a Sugden. article continues below Read all the latest spoilers During Thursday’s episode, Robert bonded with Matty and Mack, and after Mack made a sarcastic remark about John, Robert realised that he may have an ally. The pair could team up to cause John’s downfall and it could be soon. John and Mack don’t always see eye-to-eye (Credit: ITV) Mackenzie Boyd As previously mentioned, Mack has never been John’s biggest fan and he became even more wary when he discovered John had lied about Aidan Moore. In recent weeks, the pair have been more civil after John supported Mack when most of the village treated him like a leper following the slurry tank leak. Of course, John was the one responsible for that in the first place. Could Mack somehow discover the truth and plot to expose John? Will Cain discover the truth about John? Cain Dingle Following the discovery of Nate Robinson’s body, John was a pillar of support to Nate’s dad Cain. After Cain was accused of his son’s murder, John listened to Cain’s troubles before getting him more drunk and saving him – as you do. Of course, viewers know that John is responsible for Nate’s death. Could Cain soon piece everything together and expose John? With John being married to Cain’s nephew, Cain will be eager to show John that you don’t mess with the Dingles. John and Aaron are now married (Credit: ITV) Aaron Dingle Despite warnings from both Mack and Robert, Aaron has continued to stick by John. Aaron did have slight doubts after discovering John had lied about Aiden Moore, but the wedding went ahead and the pair seem happy together. However, Aaron isn’t stupid and one slip up from John could make everything click in Aaron’s mind and John’s house of cards come crashing down. John was supportive to Tracy (Credit: ITV) Tracy Robinson to expose John in Emmerdale Having been arrested for her husband’s murder, Tracy will be more eager than anyone to find the real culprit, clear her name and stop the gossip. She has been gaslit by John, who did his regular act of being the supportive pal. But will Tracy start to suspect that something is off about him? While it’s unlikely that Tracy will be the one to cause John’s downfall, it only takes one slip up by John to the wrong person to make the cogs start whirling. Will Victoria expose her brother? (Credit: ITV) Victoria Sugden Victoria is naive and insists on seeing the best in John due to her need for a happy family. This was especially prevalent in Thursday’s episode when she admitted to Robert that she likes having John and Robert around as she has been lonely without her family. However, another trait Victoria possesses is that she is nosy. She wouldn’t let the Aidan Moore stuff go after all. Could she dig into something and inadvertently discover her half-brother’s secrets? John helped Liam through his panic attack (Credit: ITV) Liam Cavanagh Some fans believe Dr Liam will be the one to expose John’s lies. Fans have pointed to Liam’s love of a murder mystery and his medical knowledge as tools to help him uncover John’s crimes. Liam and his partner Chas have both been victims of John, crimes they blamed Liam’s ex Ella for. But will Liam discover the real truth? Is John’s time in the Dales coming to an end? (Credit: ITV) When will they expose John in Emmerdale? In a recent interview, Oliver Farnworth, who plays John, revealed that his contract runs out in August. He said: “I knew the length of the initial contract. Because I had a year contract I was drip fed certain things.” Baddies don’t tend to have a long shelf life in soaps, so it’s likely his final scenes will play out over the coming months… unless his contract was extended and Emmerdale are planning a redemption arc.
