The stubborn OAP is adamant he’ll be okay, but Kerry can see he desperately needs help. Can she get Eric to accept it? Proud Pollard rejects Tracy’s offer of help (Credit: ITV) Pollard’s health is deteriorating in Emmerdale spoilers Eric’s world was turned upside down in November 2023 when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. The news that he had the neurological condition left the village veteran feeling scared to face the future. But he’s found the courage to carry on, supported by his network of loyal friends. Despite his progressive disease and the odd angina attack, it’s been business as usual for Eric. He’s still working all hours at David’s, but Pollard’s busy lifestyle is about to catch up with him. Tracy finds Eric attempting to lift some heavy boxes and asks if he needs any assistance. Pollard rejects her offer, but ends up discovering pride really does come before a fall. After Tracy leaves, Eric ends up falling over and there’s no around to help. Jacob rushes to be by his grandfather’s side, as both he and Kerry urge Pollard to consider bringing in help at home. But the idea of being looked after by a stranger does not sit well with Eric. Feeling patronised, Pollard angrily refuses the pair’s suggestion and is adamant he can cope alone. But is he just kidding himself? He wants to carry on as normal, but soon realises even simple, every day tasks have become a struggle. Seeing the state he’s in, Kerry decides to take matters into her own hands. She rings a home-help company and asks if they would be able to come and offer Eric assistance. Pollard is annoyed to realise Kerry has gone behind his back, but after suffering a second fall, he finally accepts he needs help. Things don’t get off to the smoothest of starts as Eric’s prickly nature causes tension. But eventually a resolution is reached that suits all parties.
