Kerry Wyatt has been bringing chaos and drama to Emmerdale since 2012. The feisty Geordie, played by actress Laura Norton, is the mother of Amy Barton and Chloe Harris and grandmother to Kyle Winchester and Reuben Harris. She currently works as a barmaid at The Woolpack and is also a part-time cleaner.
Kerry arrives in Emmerdale
Kerry gave birth to Amy when she was young and her daughter was raised in foster care. The pair crossed paths again in July 2012 when Kerry attacked Amy in a Hotten nightclub for kissing her boyfriend. Amy realised who Kerry was and revealed her identity. Weeks later, Kerry tracked Amy down on Facebook and came to the village to make amends.
Shortly after her arrival in the Dales, Kerry embarked on a romance with Andy Sugden. But their love story came to a sour end when Kerry accidentally started a fire which almost killed Andy’s kids. When Andy moved on with Amy vengeful Kerry faked a pregnancy. She was found out after being involved in a hit and run, caused by Adam Barton.
Kerry the bigamist
The following year, Kerry thought she’d found the one in Dan Spencer. She fell head over heels for the dependable dad, and they married in June 2014. At the reception Kerry was arrested for bigamy when it turned out she was still legally wed to man called Kev Berry.
Dan forgave Kerry and they were happy for a while, until she cheated with Ross Barton. Shortly afterwards Kerry learnt she was pregnant. But not knowing who the father was, she underwent an abortion.
Kerry turns killer
It’s easy to forget, but Kerry is actually a murderer. Albeit an accidental one. Back in 2019, she and Amy sabotaged CCTV equipment at the sweet factory, which which sparked a huge fire. The blaze claimed the life of Tracy Robinson‘s father Frank Clayton, and Kerry was never faced justice for what she did.
Kerry left the Dales to go and work on a cruise ship after the murder of her boyfriend Al Chapman. She really believed Al was the one and proposed to him with a rap song in the middle of The Woolie. But Kerry was crushed to realise Al had been bedding Chas Dingle and didn’t ever really love her.
After sailing the seas, Kerry made a dramatic comeback in 2024, dressed as a Cher impersonator!
