In whats sure to be one of the top soap moments of 2024, tonight is the final goodbye forPaul, whose powerful battle against motor neurone disease has been acclaimed by critics and viewers alike. Tonights episode seeshungover Billy leave Paul at home after realising hes lost his phone and, with it, his photos and memories. Summer and Bernie later find Paul unresponsive on the sofa, with no means of contacting Billy. They do what they can and call an ambulance, but will Billy make it in time to say goodbye?

Jamie: What To Eat This Week

September is here and with it a celebration of autumnal fruit and veg, fronted by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. His signature ability for creating simple but delicious recipes makes eating seasonally, which is better for both the planet and the purse strings, much easier. In episode one, Jamie makes an Italian-inspired pasta dish using in-season savoy cabbage, a smoky veggie burger with home-grown sweetcorn, and a delicious soup using ingredients straight from his greenhouse.

Everybodys talking about Monica Dolans chilling performance as psychopathic mum Ann Branson. Tonights finale teases a possible showdown between Ann and Lorraine Ashbournes equally formidable matriarch Daphne. After Ann killed Mickey in revenge for grassing up her family, shes top of the Sparrow familys wanted list. Elsewhere, the Sheriff of Nottinghams fate is finally revealed after her poisoning.

ITVs Mr Bates vs The Post Office sparked a public outcry when it first aired in January this year, highlighting the plight of sub postmasters blamed for financial shortfalls after introducing the faulty Horizon IT system. It prompted new plans to compensate victims and a criminal investigation into the Post Office. The shows success lay largely in the deeply affecting personal stories of the sub postmasters, many of whom were – at that time – still seeking acknowledgement and adequate compensation.
