What is Stranded on Honeymoon Island?
Stranded on Honeymoon Island is a brand new dating show to the BBC. It has been described as a series “like no other” with a “bold and dynamic format”.
The people taking part are all on the hunt for a lifetime of love, after previously finding themselves unlucky. But could this be the way they end up finding The One?
How does it work?
The show begins with 12 singletons going on a speed date. After just five minutes, they will then be whisked to a remote tropical beach with their date. Bit quick!
The six newly-formed couples will all have their own island and they are very much deserted. They’ll be forced to forage for coconuts and fashion their wedding clothes into something more suitable for island life.
Will true love blossom as they try to get by without any of the basics? Or is this just a recipe for disaster? Remember, there is nowhere to run!
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, says: “This unique new dating series will see couples who have previously been unlucky in love being paired up and sent straight on their honeymoon with no phone, no apps and no contact with the outside world – let’s see if they can make it work on their desert island and find love.”

Who presents Stranded on Honeymoon Island?
Stranded on Honeymoon Island is Davina McCall‘s latest hosting gig. She will be fronting the show when it launches on the BBC.
The telly favourite says in a trailer: “Hey, guys. It’s Davina here and I am so ready to show you the drama of what’s to come on my new show, Stranded on Honeymoon Island.
“This is dating like you’ve never seen it before. These couples are thrown in the deep end and are left completely stranded. Is isolation the recipe for true love?”
Davina is best known for presenting a long list of TV shows, including Big Brother, Long Lost Family and My Mum, Your Dad.
Who are the couples?
The singletons taking part in Stranded on Honeymoon Island have not yet been announced. So far, all we know is that there are a mixture of heterosexual and same sex couples.
One woman has joked in the trailer with her brand new bride: “I feel like a lesbian Lara Croft!”

A version of the show is also due to air in Australia.
When does it start?
The BBC will confirm later this week when Stranded on Honeymoon Island will start. For now, we have only been told it is “coming soon”.
Stranded on Honeymoon Island has already been recorded and edited, so it really won’t be long!
