Strictly Come Dancing is officially underway following the 2025 glittering launch show – but when is the next episode on?

The brand new series of Strictly kicked off on Saturday night and viewers were introduced to this year’s 15 celebrity contestants.

Strictly fans watched as the famous faces discovered which pro dancer they have been paired with. There was also special performances from pop star Jessie J and last year’s winners, Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell, who re-created their tear-jerking waltz.

The celebs and their pros topped off the night with a group dance. But when is the next episode of Strictly on? And what are the Week 1 dances and songs? Here, we reveal everything we know about the first Strictly Come Dancing live show.

Strictly Come Dancing: Week 1 dances

This year’s couples will be performing their first dances in the next episode of Strictly Come Dancing. This is when the competition really kicks off!

Each pair will take to the dance floor and perform a routine for the judges, the live studio audience and viewers at home. The judges – Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood – will then give their verdicts.

Some of the first dances have already been revealed. But the BBC is keeping tight-lipped about the majority. What we do know is Hollywood TV journalist Ross King and his pro, Jowita Przystał, will be performing a Cha Cha Cha. Their chosen song is California Gurls by Kerry Perry (Feat Snoop Dog).

Lewis Cope and his partner Katya Jones are dancing a Jive. Their song has not yet been announced, but it’s bound to be a good routine. The Emmerdale star has a strong background in dancing. Although some viewers aren’t wildly happy about this…

EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal is dancing with new pro, Julian Caillon. They will be performing a Samba. The song picked for them is KC and the Sunshine Band’s (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty.

Finally, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey – aka Gladiators’ Nitro – and Karen Hauer will be showing us a high energy performance. They are dancing a Cha Cha Cha to Push it by Salt-N-Peppa.

Only time will tell what the remaining celebrities’ dances and songs are!

Strictly Come Dancing 2025: When can I vote?

Week 1 will see the Strictly Come Dancing judges reach for their score paddles for the first time this year. But although Shirley, Motsi, Anton and Craig will be giving marks, the public cannot vote.

The judges’ scores will be totted up and carried over to Week 2. This means there will not be a Strictly: The Results show, dance off or elimination in Week 1.

The first time the public will be able to vote for their favourite Strictly dancers is after Week 2’s live show, on Saturday October 4, 2025.

The public vote will be combined with the judges’ Week 1 and Week 2 scores. This will reveal the two couples in the first dance off.
