As Jasmine accuses Max of the unthinkable, he tries desperately to clear his name tomorrow

How is Max going to talk his way out of this one?
Claire Crick

Jasmine Fisher set out to ruin Max Branning in EastEnders tonight (Tuesday, January 20) in a bid to cover her own murderous secret. As Max started getting closer to the truth, she put him firmly in the frame. A classic move to make sure all eyes were on him, instead of her.

The fallout started when Max discovered his son Oscar was planning to leave Walford with Jasmine. Knowing that there was something suspicious about the fact that she wanted to skip town so suddenly (likely from his own experience of doing the same thing!) Max tried to put the brakes on the plan.

But Jasmine wasn’t happy when Max got too close to the truth, and caused drama when she dropped the mother of all bombshells.

Here’s everything that happened in EastEnders tonight… and what happens next.

EastEnders: Max crosses Jasmine

Oscar didn’t take kindly to his dad’s meddling in his plans with Jasmine. Instead, he decided that maybe a trip to Thailand was exactly what he needed.

The only problem was that Oscar didn’t realise that this wasn’t a normal holiday and that Jasmine was planning a one-way trip.

As Max overheard Jasmine arguing with her adoptive mum on the phone about plane tickets, he realised she wasn’t planning to come back to Walford.

He told Oscar that Jasmie had been lying to him, and a huge argument erupted in the middle of the Square.

Cindy gets her claws in

It wasn’t long before Cindy was also giving Max a few home truths about Jasmine. She told him that she pushed her down the stairs last year, and that she is nothing but trouble.

With Cindy’s words ringing in his ears, Max knew he had to act fast. But a heart-to-heart with Oscar didn’t do much to help.

When Max warned his son that Jasmine was only going to break his heart, Oscar admitted he loved her and thought she was worth the risk.

At a loss over what to do, Max confronted Jasmine once again, but this time things ended badly. Very badly.

Max asked Jasmine what she was hiding, and knowing he was getting closer to the truth, Jasmine lashed out. She threw him against the wall, leaving him shocked by her violence.

But Oscar and Kat heard the commotion and instantly assumed Max had done something to hurt Jasmine.

Before Max could regain his composure, Jasmine thought fast and lied that Max had tried to kiss her.

With the reputation Max has, it is going to be a miracle if he can talk his way out of this one.

The drama continues tomorrow

Tomorrow’s EastEnders will see the fallout of Jasmine’s accusations continue. As Max protests his innocence, will anyone believe him? It won’t take long for word to spread around the Square, and Max will soon find it hard to get people to believe he’s done nothing wrong for once.

Oscar and Kat struggle to get their heads around what they have been told. But will Jasmine be able to go under the radar as usual?

Betrayal on ITV: Filming locations XXXX

Shaun Evans

How was it to film on home turf, in and around

Liverpool and Manchester?

Incredible! I spend a lot of time in Liverpool because my

family are all there, so to be up north was brilliant. They

were a really funny, hard-working crew, and to be seeing

parts of Liverpool in a way that I hadn’t seen them,

having access to certain parts of the city, that was just

amazing. A very special time in my life.

ROMOLA GARAI

How did you enjoy filming in Liverpool?

I had a very nice little apartment right by the docks, so I’d

go on walks and go to all the museums, which was great.

It was a city I don't know very well, so it was a real treat

to explore the food scene and galleries.

ZAHRA AHMADI

What was it like to film around Liverpool and

Manchester?

I loved it. I'd worked in Manchester before for quite a

considerable amount of time and I’m a big fan, but I had

only ever been to Liverpool once (and only for a week)

before Betrayal I was working that whole time, so I didn’t

get to know it at all really. But what I do remember from

that week was how every single Scouser I met was really

engaged, eloquent and energised which I loved. This

time round however, I got more time to explore, and I'd

never realised what a beautiful city it was. The

architecture is stunning, and then of course there’s the

musical history and the food scene too, which is

incredible. I ate the most amazing cauliflower dish that

blew my mind - Maray’s ‘Disco Cauliflower’ - you need to

try it…

OMID DJALILI

Does the vibe of locations like Liverpool and

Manchester seep into the filming?

Definitely. The crew were fantastic; they had a certain no-

nonsense spirit which I loved. At my hotel, I bumped into

Philip Regan, this Instagram star called the Queen of

Scotty Road. He goes, let's do a video, and then he just

hurled abuse at me! It got thousands of views on

Instagram, and it was hysterical, the kindest and most

enjoyable abuse I've ever had in my life. That's the spirit

up there. They'll abuse you if they like you. It was

tremendously enjoyable to film there.
