Nina got offered a job away from Coronation Street

Last week, Nina told Roy about a job she was encouraged to apply for. But the only downside was that it was in Whitby. Roy quickly encouraged his niece to go for it, and to take the opportunity while she is young.

So, she headed off to the interview. But when she returned tonight (Friday 21 August), she was convinced she hadn’t done enough to get the job.

Nina confided in Asha about how she was looking forward to it, when her phone bleeped. Asha grabbed it and revealed to Nina that she actually smashed the interview and has been offered the job.

This means Nina will be saying goodbye to the cobbles quite soon. But why did Mollie decide to leave?

Why is Mollie Gallagher leaving the soap?

In a huge career move, Mollie has been cast in the role of Clarice Starling in the stage adaptation of Silence of the Lambs. And she recently made her debut.

While speaking to Radio Times, Mollie opened up on how excited she was about the new role. But also revealed her nerves.

She told them: “This is only my second professional job. So, I don’t know if this ever goes away for anybody, but there is a big feeling of imposter syndrome. I’ve not done professional theatre and I feel like I’m very much in the unknown.”

However, when Mollie first got the role, she was hopeful that she could do both Coronation Street and the show. But she quickly realised that wasn’t possible.

She explained: “Originally I really wanted to find a way to do both. It sounds ridiculous hearing it now, but I had seen theatre runs where different actors take on stints. But I realised pretty quickly that could never work.

“It’s so hard. Because, obviously, being on Corrie has been my dream. But also, you want to explore other things and to be offered something as great as this, and not be able to do it would be devastating.”
