Call the Midwife series 15: EastEnders star and Waterloo Road actor join cast in episode 4

Call the Midwife series 15 continues with a heartwarming episode 4 in which Sister Veronica gets closer to a happy ending, and the guest cast includes an EastEnders ladies man.
This week, Sister Catherine checks on the babies in the nursery who are fast asleep in their bassinets. However, the following morning it becomes apparent that one of the babies is missing – and there is no sign of him, or of the person who took him.
Meanwhile, Cyril tells Rosalind that his solicitor has applied for his decree absolute, which means he’ll be a single man by the end of the month. He invites her away for a weekend and she excitedly starts making plans.

EastEnders’ Joel Beckett – aka Jake Moon – portrays Jimmy Wrigley
Bedfordshire-born Joel Beckett, 52, guest stars as Jimmy Wrigley in the cast of Call the Midwife series 15. Of course, soap fans will be more than familiar with the actor.
EastEnders viewers will know Joel best for playing Jake Moon in BBC soap EastEnders. He first joined the soap in 2004 with his onscreen brother Danny Moon (played by Jake Maskall) – both cousins of Alfie Moon. At the time, the BBC introduced him as “the sensitive brother who had an eye for the ladies”.
The soap axed the brothers after a year, although Jake was later reintroduced to the show. He’s been a cast member on and off ever since, having left again in 2006, and popping up again for one episode in 2024 coinciding with Chrissie’s release from prison.
BBC One has just announced that Joel be, once again, be reprising the role of Jake for a short stint in February 2026. Jake “returns in search of answers about what really happened at Christmas”. But he gets more than he had bargained for when he learns a different version of events that leads him to question the woman he loves…
The actor is also known for playing Lee in the British version of The Office between 2001 and 2003. Other notable roles include PC Gainham in Life of Crime, Mark Richie in Casualty, and Ian Casey in Channel 5 thriller The Feud.

Philip Martin Brown stars as Edwin Robbins
Lancashire-born Philip Martin Brown, 69, plays Edwin Robbins, Molly’s concerned husband in the Sunday night period drama.
Philip is an actor with nearly 50 years experience in TV, film, and theatre. His very first role was in 1978, playing Sam Potter in the Nigel Havers drama A Horseman Riding By. He was 22 at the time. The actor subsequently went on to appear in multiple TV series, and early roles included characters in Crown Court, Bull Week, The Paradise Club, and The Sharp End.
Between John Daley in Wing and a Prayer, before he went on to play Sgt. Paul Dobson in the 90s police drama City Central. Other notable characters included Smedley in Cutting It, Seth Mercer in The Bill, and DI Pinnock in Coronation Street.
Kate Rutter plays Molly Robbins
Leeds actress Kate Rutter portrays Molly Robbins in the cast of this week’s Call the Midwife. As three young girls race towards St Wilbur’s school, Sister Veronica readies her bicycle for work. However, at the gate, one of the girls trips and falls. The school dinner lady Molly hurries over, but is troubled by a sudden sharp pain in her back. It is not the first time she has experience such pain and is worried she may have cancer…
Kate Rutter has been on our screens since the late 80s, when she popped up in an episode of Brookside. She’s worked as a jobbing actress ever since, popping up in episodes of EastEnders, Undercover Heart, Queer as Folk, The Bill, Cold Feet, Clocking Off, and Silent Witness.
She is probably most famous for playing Miriam in the Scottish soap River City, a role she portrayed between 2012 and 2013. Kate also played multiple roles in Corrie, most recently DS Beckett.
In the past few years, Kate has starred as Juliet Donovan in crime drama Better, Irene MacDonald in The Long Shadow, and Barbara in True Love. She’s also been in plenty of films, too, including I, Daniel Blake.

Sophie Ford stars as new mum Pam. At the maternity home, newly-arrived patient Pam explains to Nurse Crane that she’s recently separated from her husband, Kenny. And once she’s had the baby she plans to move away to Stevenage for a fresh start. She hasn’t given her permission to allow him into the delivery room, but he turns up anyway, pleading to be given access…
Actress Sophie is best known for playing Imelda Dunning in Until I Kill You. She’s also popped up in episodes of Doctors, Doc Martin, Everything I Know About Love, and Moving On.
Martin Delaney plays DI Holbrook. He is best known for playing Jason Summerbee in the teen football series Renford Rejects, and Paul Webb in the Channel 5 soap Family Affairs. He also starred as Samuel Whitaker in Shortland Street, and Mick in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.
More recently, he’s played Sgt Towser in Catch 22, Robert in Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything, and Ludo in Escort Boys.
Rachel Tucker guest stars as Peggy Wrigley. She’s famous for playing Siobhan O’Hare in Northern Irish crime drama Hope Street. Rachel also portrayed Sharon Collins in Informer.
