DIY SOS: BBC confirms start date for Nick Knowles and the team's 'ambitious' Children in Need special
Tissues at the ready!Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team are back for a new and very big build for this year’s Children in Need.
The BBC has confirmed the details of the upcoming charity special – and viewers have not got long to wait.
A trio of familiar faces will be rolling up their sleeves for the very good cause and helping Nick and the DIY SOS team “make the unimaginable possible”.
Here’s what we know about DIY SOS for BBC Children in Need, including start date, the charity and who is helping out.

DIY SOS for BBC Children in Need
Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team have already lent a hand to multiple charities over the years for Children in Need. And 2025 is no different.
This year, the gang will be transforming the facilities at The Joshua Tree in Cheshire. The charity, which is supported by CiN, offers tailored help to families affected by childhood cancers.
A demand for its services means the charity has outgrown its current building. But this is where Nick, the DIY SOS team and an army of local tradespeople and volunteers come in.
The episode is described as one of DIY SOS’s “most ambitious and challenging” to date. In just 12 days, however, they will make “the unimaginable possible”.
Which celebrities are helping with the build?
Nick and all of DIY SOS’s main stars will appear in the show. This includes designer Gabrielle Blackman, electrician Billy Byrne and plasterer Chris Frediani. Woodworker Radha Siyver and gardener Ashley Edward will feature, too.
They will also be joined by several celebrities on the special project. Three of BBC’s Morning Live cast will be giving up their time to help.
Greg Rutherford, Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton will all be putting in some hard graft in DIY SOS for Children in Need.
A BBC spokesperson said: “Throughout the episode, we hear directly from young people and their families about the life-changing impact of The Joshua Tree’s work, and how this build will help the charity extend its reach and deepen its impact for years to come.”

DIY SOS for Children in Need: When is it on?
The good news is, you’ve not got long to wait. DIY SOS for Children in Need airs on Thursday November, 13, 2025. The show is on BBC One and coincides with the BBC’s Children in Need 2025 appeal. It is an hour long.
A post on The Joshua Tree’s Facebook page says: “We can’t wait to show the incredible transformation The Joshua Tree has had thanks to all the amazing generosity of volunteers that believed in the power of community and our mission to support families affected by childhood cancers.
“BBC Children in Need has made the unimaginable possible, and we can’t wait to watch the show.”
