DIY SOS: Why the Nick Knowles show isn't on BBC One tonight and when it is back
DIY SOS fans hoping to catch Nick Knowles and the team in another emotional show tonight are in for a disappointment, as it isn’t on....DIY SOS fans hoping to catch Nick Knowles and the team in another emotional show tonight are in for a disappointment, as it isn’t on. But why?
Nick has dominated BBC One for the past month with four brand new episodes of DIY SOS.
We’ve already seen Isla Screaton Kilpatrick, who has the genetic mutation Mandibuloacral Dysplasia. Nick and team was able to give the eight-year-old her independence at home.

Dan Richards’ life was also changed following a freak accident. Dan had broken his neck walking into the sea in Wales.
Nick and the DIY SOS team also helped nine-year-old Rafi Amer, who was left with severe brain damage after contracting E. Coli.
Last week, viewers watched Nick and his army of helpers remodel the Scott siblings’ house following the tragic death of their mum, who fell down the stairs and broke her neck.
DIY SOS: Why isn’t it on tonight?
Although five more episodes of DIY SOS have been filmed by Nick and the team, the series has been temporarily paused. Tonight, a different show will air in its place.
Return to Paradise is back on our screens instead. Series 2 of the sunshine filled detective drama kicks off tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
Nick Knowles has also confirmed to DIY SOS viewers that the show has been paused. Taking to X, Nick retweeted an avid viewer who had commended him and co-star Gaby Blackman for the first four episodes in the latest haul.
The message read: “Well, that was quite the episode to finish this run of @DIYSOS on. Absolutely incredible family. And, as usual, the work from the trades to overcome the challenges is to be proud of.
“With @MrNickKnowles driving and @CushionCrisis stressing but always succeeding.”

When is DIY SOS back on?
TVGuide contacted the BBC to find out when the remaining episodes of DIY SOS will be on. Unfortunately, a spokesman was unable to confirm a date for the standard series.
However, it has been announced that DIY SOS will be making a return in just a few short weeks for a Children in Need special. The show will feature a special big build to coincide with this year’s CiN appeal.
The DIY: SOS Children in Need special will air at 9pm on Thursday November 13, 2025. It will see Nick and the DIY SOS team tackling The Joshua Tree in Cheshire.
The charity supports the health and wellbeing of families supported by childhood cancer but it was in desperate need of a new building. Olympic long jumper Greg Rutherford and TV presenters, Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones, were on help with the massive build.
Meanwhile, it was also preciously confirmed that there is a DIY SOS Christmas special coming our way, too. The stars of BBC’s Gladiators will also be lending their hand in the festive Christmas episode.
We’d best stock up on tissues!
