Emma Atkins has revealed exactly how Mack will leave Emmerdale as Lawrence Robb begins Strictly stint
The Emmerdale cast have been supporting Lawrence alreadyEmmerdale fans have been excited to see Mack actor Lawrence Robb compete on Strictly Come Dancing. But everyone has been wondering the same thing – how will he leave the soap?
It’s been a turbulent time for Mack and Charity, as he just discovered she cheated on him with Ross. And on top of that she told him about Dr Todd raping her – right before she was arrested for murder.
But while things haven’t been easy, Mack has been determined to get his wife out of prison. So, now that we know a temporary exit is on the way, what will happen to him and Charity?
Emma Atkins reveals Mack exit storyline
Speaking to The Sun at the Inside Soap Awards, the Charity Dingle actress shed some light into Mack’s exit.
It turns out the space between Lawrence finding out he was on the show to him actually having to go to rehearse was quite small, so Emmerdale writers had to act fast to write him out.
Emma explained: “We were filming a scene where we had to get him out so he could go and do it as he’d just got the phone call. And they wrote him out very quickly.”
As for what drives Mack away from the village? It seems a job opportunity is the cause. But Lawrence added his own little Strictly nod to the exit.
She added: “He has this moment where he tells Charity he is going to work in Germany, and at the end of the scene I say ‘go on then, you may as well go’ and he does this little flick, like a shimmy, and I was like ‘the audience are going to know’, it was very very well done.”
Emma admitted it’s not Lawrence’s “choice” to leave but he has to put all of his focus into learning new dance routines, meaning for a while there will be no Mack.
But since their characters have spent so many years together, Emma went on to admit she “misses him” as he’s part of her “furniture” on set.

But why did Lawrence need to be written out of Emmerdale? Well, just last month the Mack actor was announced as part of the Strictly line-up.
Over the years, quite a few Emmerdale faces have taken part, with Kelvin Fletcher actually winning the whole show.
Last Saturday night saw the launch show air. It was revealed Lawrence was partnered with pro-dancer Jowita Przystal – who won the show back in 2022.
While we haven’t seen Lawrence do a full dance yet, the little sneak peeks we got during week one definitely gave us confidence that he could go far.
And his Emmerdale co-stars seem to agree, as many have taken to social media to wish him luck. Danny Miller posted: “Can’t wait for one of my best pals to take on the dance floor. Whilst I’m gutted we won’t have our lodger and ‘manny’, or anyone to do gymnastics drop-offs, cool the tea or read bedtime books until 2027, we do wish you all the best. We will be supporting you every week. We all love you!”
Beth Cordingly commented under Lawrence’s most recent post: “You were wonderful. So natural and relaxed. We are all really proud of you.”
