New Louis Theroux doc coming to Netflix and it has a disturbing connection to Adolescence

Louis Theroux is back, and he's tackling a controversial subject in his new Netflix documentary – and Adolescence "was a proof of concept".

Theroux is arguably the most popular documentarian of the 21st century. His extensive back catalogue has seen him interview sometimes scary, always fascinating people, whether it's the Tiger King (before the Netflix series got to him), neo-Nazis, or scientologists.

However, it's been three years since he made a documentary. He's been busy with his podcast, speaking to the likes of Jimmy Carr, Florence Pugh, and Bob Vylan.

This year, he's back – "beta then ever" – with a film that will absolutely ruffle some feathers.

Louis Theroux announces 'Inside the Manosphere' documentary

Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere, a new Netflix documentary, will drop on March 11, 2026.

You may be asking, "What's the manosphere?" In short, it's the online culture of misogyny, toxic masculinity, and discussion about men's issues and rights that often promotes unhealthy behaviours.

It's often anti-feminist, believing that society has become biased against men. Several high-profile podcasters and influencers have been linked to the manosphere – most of all, Andrew Tate.

The trailer for the documentary doesn't include Tate, but it features Sneako, an online personality who's been criticised for allegedly misogynistic and anti-Semitic statements.

"Oh [bleep], is he gonna do a hit piece on me?" he asks. It's unclear who else Theroux has spoken to for the documentary.

"This might really be the animal documentary of the year. Analysing this fragile, specific species might prove to be very entertaining," one user reacted on X.

"Saw that a new Louis Theroux documentary is coming out and peed myself from excitement," another posted.

Is 'Inside the Manosphere' connected to Adolescence?

Adolescence, Netflix's award-winning drama about a young boy accused of killing his classmate, was partly about the manosphere.

Jamie (played by Owen Cooper) had been exposed to (and slowly radicalised by) these online communities. Since then, the manosphere has become – as Theroux describes it – a "hot" topic.

"It’s sort of nothing like Adolescence but it’s in the precinct of what the boy in Adolescence might have been watching," Theroux told Deadline.

"I guess Adolescence was a proof of concept, but I don’t ever think we needed a proof of concept. We knew it was a hot subject."

More so than ever before, Theroux had to deal with the fallout of presumably fraught interviews. “I knew they would be streaming or filming me and would put that content out,” he explained.

"Sometimes it was kind of embarrassing. I’d arrive back from filming trips and my kids would say, ‘Dad what you were doing? You got owned.’ That’s a little bit painful but actually makes for a stronger film."
