Recognise Kev's friend Steve in Emmerdale? Jason Done previously played a beloved TV character whose story ended in tragedy
Kev reunited with someone from his past
Emmerdale welcomed a new arrival tonight (Friday, July 24), as Waterloo Road star Jason Done joined the soap as Kev’s mate Steve.
Lewis was less than pleased to see his dad Kev’s old mate turn up, worrying that he might be dodgy.
Fans of the soap might recognise actor Jason Done already though for his role in a rival continuing drama.

Steve’s Dales debut
While Lewis was working in the café today, he couldn’t help but notice a stranger staring over in Kev’s direction. He soon wanted to know who he was.
Kev turned round and realised that it was his old friend Steve. Steve had grown up in Manchester, having lots of stories to tell about Kev’s ‘naughty’ behaviour back in the day.
Steve was also introduced to Lewis as Kev’s son, joking that a child of Kev’s was ‘bound to pop up’ at some point.
Realising that Kev had settled down in the village, Steve spied an opportunity to cause some chaos. He soon wormed his way into staying the night at Charles and Claudette’s place, wondering if Kev was after Claudette’s money.
Kev told him that he wasn’t up to anything dodgy. He’d put his past behind him and truly cared for his son. But, while Kev might’ve changed, it appeared as though Steve hadn’t.
Who plays Steve in Emmerdale?
The new character of Steve is played by 53 year old actor Jason Done.
The actor was born in Lancashire and raised in Salford.
What else has Jason Done been in?
Jason has been in a number of popular television shows, with the most notable being Waterloo Road. He played the role of teacher Tom Clarkson in the school-based drama between 2006-2013.
Viewers might also know him from his appearances in The Innocents, The Long Shadow, Brassic, The Hack, and Silent Witness.
Between 1995-1996, Jason also briefly appeared in the ITV soap Coronation Street as P.C Bathurst.

Jason Done in Waterloo Road
Jason Done played Tom Clarkson in Waterloo Road – an English teacher who progressed onto Deputy Head over the years.
He was given a huge storyline from the offset as Series 1 of the drama saw him have an affair, cheating on his wife and fellow teacher Lorna Dickey with best friend and teacher Izzie Redpath.
Within the next couple of seasons, both Lorna and Izzie were killed off, with Tom struggling with grief.
In 2013, after many years of being involved in the school drama (and even relocating to Scotland when the school moved there), Tom’s story came to an end.
He accidentally fell off a roof in a bid to save Kyle Stack’s life, unable to survive the injuries he sustained.
Who is Jason Done married to? Does Jason Done have children?
Jason has been married since 2009. He’s married to agency director Anoushka Done.
The couple have two children together although they like to keep details about them away from the public eye.

What’s next for Steve in Emmerdale spoilers
In Emmerdale spoilers for next week, Steve can’t believe how easy the pickings look and is baffled that Kev hasn’t been cashing in. But Kev quickly shuts him down, insisting he’s only back to reconnect with Lewis and warning Steve to keep out of mischief.
Of course, Steve has other ideas.
Ignoring Kev’s pleas, he suggests the pair team up to burgle Home Farm. Kev makes it crystal clear that this is his patch and Steve is to stay well away. But when has Steve ever been good at following orders?
As Kev, Claudette and Charles throw themselves into planning a special birthday surprise for Lewis, they’re completely oblivious to Steve plotting his own mission at Home Farm.
Will Steve’s reckless plan ruin Kev’s chance to rebuild things with Lewis? Or could a jealous Vinny end up causing the real drama?
