Outlander season 8: What time it's out and the 2 subscriptions you need to watch it in the UK
Outlander is almost back... for the final time
Outlander season 8 is almost here, so we’re here to answer all of your questions – including what time it’s out, where it’s releasing on Netflix, and exactly how to watch it in the UK.
It’s been over a decade since Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe) WAS transported back in time, putting her on a romantic collision course with a highland warrior: Jamie (Sam Heughan).
Seven seasons and 14 years later, we’ve had the Battle of Culloden, Claire and Jamie’s fateful reunion, their move to Fraser’s Ridge, the Revolutionary War, and their return to Scotland.
What lies ahead in Outlander season 8? Well, that remains to be seen – and that’s why we’re here, to figure out when and where you can stream it in the UK (and wherever else you may be).

What time is Outlander season 8 out?
Outlander season 8 should be available to stream from midnight on Saturday, March 7, in the UK.
To be clear, this hasn’t been explicitly confirmed. However, ahead of season 7 part 2’s release in November 2024, a UK fan reached out to MGM about exactly what time it would be released.
“I’ve checked and Outlander will drop in the UK as soon as it’s Saturday… (i.e. 00:01) so you can stay up late on Friday night to catch it first but no need for the 5am alarm,” its official account replied.
This suggests it’ll be the same time for season 8. Worst-case scenario, it’ll drop on streaming by 8am on Saturday (if you don’t fancy a late night).
Why is it out later in the UK?
Here’s the thing: Outlander season 8 premieres in the US on Friday, March 6, on Starz.
That doesn’t mean the US is necessarily getting it earlier. It’s unclear what time it’ll premiere across the pond, but it’s likelier to be a time zone problem than anything else.
For example, look at A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It first aired at 3am in the UK, before being repeated at 9pm that same day. Sky Atlantic wasn’t trying to be awkward: episodes dropped at the exact same time on HBO in North America, which happened to be at 7pm PT/10pm ET the previous day in the US.
So, yes: it is out later in the UK, but not later than the US.
How to watch Outlander season 8 in the UK
In order to watch Outlander season 8 in the UK, you need two subscriptions: Prime Video and MGM+.
Prime Video comes with every Amazon Prime plan, so there’s a good chance you have it already.
MGM+ is an add-on you can get via Prime Video. After a seven-day free trial, it costs an extra £5.99 per month.
If you’ve been following the show for a while, you may remember streaming it via Lionsgate+, which has since been discontinued in the UK.
How much does Prime Video cost in 2026?
This means you get other Amazon perks, like One-Day and Same-Day Delivery, as well as access to Prime Video's library.
If you want to sign up for Prime Video on its own, without a full membership to Amazon Prime, it costs £7.99 per month.
You can also pay an extra £2.99 per month to go ad-free.
Amazon offers a 30-day free trial for Prime Video, so if you'd rather not commit to another direct debit for a streaming platform, you can try before you buy.
Is Outlander season 8 going to be on Netflix?

According to the synopsis, the final season will follow Jamie and Claire as they “find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence”.
“With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together,” it adds.
“While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they’ve left the war for America’s freedom behind, their fight for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.”
