I’m A Celebrity South Africa star David Haye’s comments about ‘ugly girls’
In a clip released ahead of tonight’s show, David reveals his “ugly duckling” theory to his fellow campmates – including show legends Ashley Roberts, Scarlett Moffatt, and Sir Mo Farah.
Speaking in camp, David tells his fellow celebs that after the show, they should organise to meet up.

He then says that his partner, Sian, can “cook for 60 people”, and that they regularly have big parties in Costa Rica where she cooks for several people.
“She’s, like, tall, blue eyes,” David says. “She sounds like she’s absolutely gorgeous,” Sinitta says.
“She’s lovely. She’s got the personality of a proper ugly bird,” David then replies.
“You can’t say that, David!” Scarlett Moffatt laughs. “Why, she has,” David then says. “What does that even mean?” Scarlett asks.

David slammed
“Most ugly girls realise they gotta have a personality, to banter and tell jokes and [bleep], so people overlook the fact that they’re not aesthetically amazing straight away,” David explains.
“It’s called ugly duckling syndrome,” he then says. “Where you get them when girls are ugly, when they start off, and then they get prettier as they get older, but they’ve still got the personality of when they were ugly.”
“David!” Scarlett laughs, while Ashley Roberts can be seen cringing before muttering, “Oh dear god”.
Fans of the show were not impressed. Jedward were amongst the many who commented, slamming David. “So disrespectful to talk about girls this way,” they wrote.

Fans criticise David
“He’d fit right in on that Manosphere documentary!” another said. “The other campmates need to tell David off instead of laughing it off,” a third said.
“Why is he still there? Surely this misogynistic behaviour needs to be taken off air,” another wrote. “He is the kind of guy that gives men a bad name! No wonder they were all aghast at what he said! It’s just a pity the other men didn’t say something to him about it. He would never have taken account of anything any of the women said so a man should have spoken up,” a fifth wrote.
Last week, David was slammed for his behaviour towards Beverley and Sinitta. After winning his trial in the first episode, David opted to send Beverley, 69, to the Savannah Scrub, where campmates lived on rations and slept on wooden beds.
“David Haye flipping sent me to Savannah Scrub! I was thinking, ‘You’re going to get it, mate, you are going to get it’,” Beverley ranted later.
David also opted not to choose Sinitta for his team in another challenge. When asked why he’d opted to choose Seann Walsh instead, he said: “I think it’s pretty obvious.”
