The Night Manager series 2: Filming locations include Colombia, and beautiful 'hidden gem' Spanish city
Oh to be somewhere sunny right now!
The Night Manager series 2 will make you want to win the lottery 10 times over so you can visit all the stunning filming locations used in the BBC One drama.
Like the first series in 2016, cast and crew filmed the latest six-parter in some seriously exotic places. Viewers who enjoyed the first run of the spy thriller will know it was set and filmed in Cairo (Egypt), Zermatt (Switzerland), Mallorca (Spain), Istanbul (Turkey), and Devon and London (England).
In series 2, Tom Hiddleston’s Jonathan Pine – imagine James Bond but on TV – travels the globe once again in a bid to catch more bad guys.
Here’s a breakdown of all the filming locations used in The Night Manager series 2 on BBC One.

Where is The Night Manager series 2 set?
The Night Manager series 2 is mostly set across London and Colombia. In the new episodes, we catch up with Jonathan Pine who is now living as Alex Goodwin – a low-level MI6 officer running a quiet surveillance unit in London.
However, his humdrum, safe existence soon becomes dangerous again when he catches a chance sighting of an old Richard Roper mercenary. This prompts a call to action and leads Jonathan Pine to a violent encounter with a new player: Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos.
On this perilous new journey, Pine meets Roxana Bolaños, a businesswoman who reluctantly helps him infiltrate Teddy’s Colombian arms operation. Once in Colombia, Pine is plunged deep into a deadly plot involving arms and training of a guerrilla army…

Was it actually filmed in Columbia?
Yes, The Night Manager series 2 was filmed partly in Colombia, South America. The story is largely focused in Spanish-speaking Colombia, where Teddy Dos Santos runs his arms operation.
Key locations included Colombia’s Medellín, the capital of Colombia’s mountainous Antioquia province. No surprise that it’s nicknamed the “City of Eternal Spring” for its mild weather. It’s famous for its annual flower festival, which features in the series.
Matthew Patnick, executive producer of The Night Manager series 2, recently told Variety: “It was a massive decision to come over to Colombia. The tax incentive is so favourable to productions coming here; it made everything much easier and had a huge financial impact on the show.”
The series was filmed with a mostly Colombian crew over a five week period. As well as Medellín, cast and crew shot at a villa in Girardot, located some four hours from the capital of Bogotá. The Caribbean port city of Cartagena was also used, largely for the beach scenes. Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, is a vibrant Caribbean coastal city famous for its UNESCO-listed walled Old Town. It’s also known for its colourful colonial architecture, significant slave trade history, and lively culture. It’s not to be confused with the Cartagena in Spain.
Medellín does not have an ocean beach because it’s located in the Andes Mountains. Netflix’s 2024 series One Hundred Years of Solitude was also filmed in Columbia.

The Night Manager series 2: What other filming locations were used?
Series 2 of The Night Manager was filmed in the UK, Spain, Colombia and France. Cast and crew filmed in various locations around Spain, including Barcelona, Mallorca, and the Canary Islands.
In the UK, viewers will see some very familiar landmarks. Aerial shots show the MI5 and MI6 building on London’s Southbank. It’s actually called Thames House and is located on Millbank. In John le Carré novels, and The Night Manager – based on his novel – the building is called River House.
The distinctive Portland stone building, designed by Sir Frank Baines, was originally built in the 1920s for ICI. It was acquired by the government, and officially became MI5’s HQ in 1994, housing thousands of staff and the Counter-Terrorism Operations Centre.
Drone shots of London also show the famous Shard, and the Thames snaking through the capital city. Other UK locations included posh and leafy Richmond-upon-Thames near Kew Gardens.
At the beginning of the series, Tom’s character Jonathan Pine is living in London. Scenes show him sprinting down London’s famous South Bank for the show.
Cast and crew spent three weeks shooting in and around London, before flying to Colombia.

The Night Manager filming locations included the Spanish city of Sitges
Tom Hiddleston was seen filming scenes for The Night Manager series 2 in the Spanish city of Sitges, just south of Barcelona.
Sitges is a stunning coastal town in Catalonia, Spain, near Barcelona. A hidden gem, it’s famous for its beautiful beaches, lively LGBT-friendly scene, and buzzing nightlife. If you like seafront promenades, historic old town charm, museums, and traditional Catalan food, then this place is for you! And it’s all set against the Garraf Natural Park. Garraf Natural Park is a vast natural park near Barcelona. It offers dramatic limestone hills, native vegetation, and breathtaking Mediterranean sea views.
As for the Hotel Rusiñol that gets blown up during episode 1, it isn’t a real hotel.
