Trigger Point series 3: The Queen left 'disappointed' when she visited the set of ITV thriller
Her Majesty visited the set of Trigger Point as it was filmed on location in London

Trigger Point cast and crew welcomed a very special guest during the filming of series 3, when Her Majesty The Queen turned up on set.
The Queen visited the set of the ITV thriller in March 2025, which Vicky McClure admits was a “special Day”. But she wasn’t sure if Her Majesty felt the same way!
Queenie, or Camilla to her mates, visited the set of Trigger Point on location in London earlier this year. She met the cast, including Vicky, who portrays bomb disposal officer Lana Washington in the ITV series. Here’s what Vicky said about the Royal visit.

The Queen visited the set of Trigger Point series 3
Her Majesty The Queen visited the set of ITV drama Trigger Point to mark ITV’s 70th birthday. In March 2025, she attended a reception with ITV stars, and staff working behind the scenes, in the “first significant event to mark 70 years since the 1955 launch of ITV”.
As part of the set visit, The Queen met cast and crew involved in the upcoming series 3 of Trigger Point, including Vicky McClure MBE and a bomb disposal expert advising the production.
Her Majesty observed the team in action while a scene was filmed showing Lana Washington (Vicky McClure) sprinting towards a building just as an explosion ripped out from a balcony high above her.
Camilla then joined a reception attended by ITV colleagues and well known faces from some of ITV’s biggest programmes. These included Brenda Blethyn, Shaun Evans, and Monica Dolan.
The Queen went on to cut a clapperboard-shaped cake to mark the occasion and was presented with a personalised clapperboard. Of course, ITV viewers will know that there was a day of special programming on ITV1 to mark the 70th in September.
Vicky McClure on meeting The Queen
Talking recently ahead of Trigger Point series 3’s launch, Vicky McClure remembered the encounter as a “special day”.
She said: “It was absolutely mad! I remember when it was spoken about, I had to ask a few questions. I said, ‘What do you mean the queen? The queen of what? Oh, The Queen! It was to celebrate ITV’s 70th anniversary and apparently she was given lots of options of shows that she could visit, and she chose Trigger Point. It was fantastic.
“There was a real buzz around the set, everyone was really excited. She did the clapper board and had a play with the focus pull.”

Camilla ‘a little disappointed that nothing really happened’
Vicky McClure went on to explain what happened on The Queen’s set visit – although she wasn’t entirely sure how much the famous Royal enjoyed it…
She elaborated: “We were filming an explosion in VFX (visual effects). So I think she was maybe a little disappointed that nothing really happened – it will all happen in post-production!”
However, all was not lost, as Vicky enjoyed it! She added: “It was a great day. She walked around the set and I talked her through the bomb suit, just to give her a bit of an idea of what we do.
“I was a bit nervous because the world’s eyes are on you. It’s world news when The Queen comes to town and I didn’t want to trip over or swear! But ultimately it was just a really nice chat.”
‘It’s surreal to imagine the Royal Family sitting at home watching us!’
Maanuv Thiara, who portrays DI Amar Batra inm the cast of Trigger Point, said meeting Her Majesty The Queen was “really incredible”.
He revealed: “It was an amazing moment, really incredible. It felt like a bank holiday atmosphere, even though we were all at work. There was such a cool vibe on set. We had so much fun and Her Majesty seemed impressed, she even used the clapperboard for us.
“It was so cool that Trigger Point got to be part of this momentous occasion – what an honour. It’s really quite surreal to imagine the Royal Family sitting at home, tuning in to watch us!”
