What happened to Mahek Bukhari's TikTok account: The TikTok Murders on Disney+ reopens the influencer and her mum Ansreen's horrific crime

Mahek – known by the name May B Volgs online – made a career from social media influencing before she and Ansreen were jailed for life in 2023.
The mother and “entirely self-obsessed” daughter duo, along with two other men, killed Saqib Hussain and Hashim Ijazuddin in a high speed car chase.
Saqib’s desperate call to 999 can be heard in the documentary, which is part of Disney+’s 20/20 Britain’s Most Notorious Crime Investigations, and it is truly harrowing.
He can be heard repeatedly pleading with his life, before the line goes dead. The car split in two and burst into flames, killing passenger Saqib and driver Hashim.
This week, Ansreen’s appeal to reduce her 26 jail sentence was rejected. Mahek’s minimum 31 years and eight months sentence was previously reduced to 26 years and 285 days.
But with 20/20 Britain’s Most Notorious Crime Investigations shedding light back on the case, many viewers will be left wondering what happened to Mahek’s TikTok account.

Mahek Bukhari: The TikTok Murders on Disney+
20/20 Britain’s Most Notorious Crime Investigations is a new series of six standalone documentary episodes. Episode 1 focuses on the case of missing toddler Ben Needham in 1991.
The brutal murder of Joanna Yeates at the hands of her neighbour also features in the series.
Mahek Bukhari: The TikTok Murders is the final instalment.
Viewers learn that Mahek had amassed a healthy following on social media before the murders. Her TikToks would see her dancing, flaunting her expensive clothes and make-up and visiting restaurants.
Mahek’s mum Ansreen also appeared in a huge number of her videos. She, as viewers will be told, relished in the attention she got from men. Especially if she was wearing skimpy outfits.
But Ansreen was keeping a secret from her husband. Despite being in her 40s, she’d been having an affair with 21-year-old Saqib.
Ansreen would send him explicit photos and daughter Mahek kept the secret quiet. However, it soon began to unravel.
Ansreen got nervous and tried to end things with Saqib. Furious and heartbroken, her young lover demanded £3,000 in exchange for his silence. If she did not pay, he said he would release the pictures.
Mahek and Ansreen Bukhari jailed for murder
Disney+ viewers will discover how Mahek and Ansreen came up with a plan. The evil mother and daughter plotted to lure Saqib with a false offer of £3,000, then kill him in a high speed car chase.
They enlisted the help of five accomplices. On a dark night in February 2022, Saqib and Hashim’s Skoda Fabia was rammed off the road. The car, which Hashim was driving, hit a tree and their car split into two, bursting into flames.
Viewers will hear Saqib’s desperate call to police: “There’s guys following me, they have balaclavas on… they’re trying to ram me off the road,” he pleads.
Mahek and Ansreen and their co-defendants just carried on driving. They were caught on CCTV casually walking down the street a short while later.
The eyes of the law soon caught up with them, however. Mahek, Ansreen, Rekan Karwan and Raees Jamal were jailed for murder. Natasha Akhtar, Ameer Jamal and Sanaf Gulamustafa were jailed for manslaughter.
But what has happened to Mahek’s TikTok account?

Incredibly, Mahek Bukhari’s TikTok account is still active. Her followers have also dramatically increased since her sickening crime became public knowledge.
Mahek had 126,000 followers on TikTok at the start of her trial in late 2022. After being jailed for life, the number grew to 130,000.
Shockingly, the figure now sits at 188.8,000 followers. She has 3.7million likes.
Incredibly, May B Vlogs is still an active account although all comments have been switched off. Bukhari’s last video is dated February 7, 2022. She is showing off her new false ‘spider’ lashes.
Four days later, she and her mum Ansreen killed Saqib and Hashim.
Bukhari can be seen in a video one month before with the caption: “Babe, I killed someone.” Speaking back to herself, she mouths: “I will still love you either way.”
Mahek Bukhari also has 34,000 followers on an active Instagram account.
Petition for Mahek Bukhari’s social accounts to be suspended
In October 2023, a petition was launched for Mahek Bukari’s TikTok account to be suspended.
Aamer Hussain, Saqib’s uncle, said: “I have started a petition because TikTok has said there’s ‘no violations’. Her content is disturbing and causes upset and pain for me and my family.
“We should not have to see her content generating followers and an income. The pain caused by her will never go.”
To date, the Change.org petition has received almost 3,800 signatures.
However, TikTok has not suspended the account and Bukhari can continue to gain followers from behind bars.
