A Scot is part of tonight's World's Strongest Man line-up for Heat 5
World’s Strongest Man 2025 airs its penultimate heat tonight, with a Scottish legend hoping for victory – so, make sure you know what time it’s on and when you can watch the final.
The annual competition is one of the highlights of the Christmas TV calendar. Strongmen from all around the globe gather in Sacramento, California, to put themselves under extraordinary physical strain in some of the most jaw-dropping tests of strength imaginable.
This year, Tom Stoltman (“the Albatross”) is hoping to secure another win. However, he faces stiff competition; namely, 2023 winner Mitchell Hooper, from Canada.
If you’re not watching Celebrity Apprentice, World’s Strongest Man should be part of your telly line-up.

What time is World’s Strongest Man on tonight?
World’s Strongest Man will air at 7:30pm on Channel 5 tonight (December 31).
If you’ve not been keeping up with the competition, you can stream all of the heats so far and other qualifying events (like Britain’s Strongest Man and The Strongman Classic) via Channel 5’s on-demand service for free.
Who’s competing in Heat 5?
Five strongmen are going head-to-head in Heat 5:
- Luke Stoltman (United Kingdom)
- Pavlo Kordiyaka (Ukraine)
- Nick Guardione (United States)
- Andrew Flynn (United Kingdom)
- Evan Singleton (United States)
Luke Stoltman, as you may have guessed, is Tom Stoltman’s older brother. He’s never won World’s Strongest Man, but he’s enjoyed consistent success in other events. For example, he won Britain’s Strongest Man this year.
Speaking on Joe Hart’s Mind Over Everything web series, Luke spoke about the challenges of managing his mental health at such a high level of the sport.
“Without my mind being right I can do nothing. My mind allows me to do everything. It allows me to be a good dad, a good partner, a good businessman, a good athlete. It’s everything for me,” he explained.
“I know what world-class looks like and feels like, and to be in another line of work, something that I’ve grown up watching, natural superheroes – to see the big man work and explain things and the humility and then the maniac that you flip into that we needed right then.
“I love to see it and I’m around greatness.”

Who has won the heats so far?
There have been four heats so far. Tom Stoltman (United Kingdom) and Eddie Williams (New Zealand) won Heat 1, which aired on December 26.
Stoltman came first with 22.5 points, with Williams winning 17.5 points over the course of the heat. They beat South Africa’s Jaco Schoonwinkel, America’s Thomas Evans, and Mexico’s Austin Andrade.
Heat 2 was a narrower result, with Mitchell Hooper coming first with 15.5 points and the UK’s Paddy Haynes securing second place with 14 points.
They were far ahead of the runners-up, though: America’s Bryce Johnson, Canada’s Wesley Herwinsky, and Australia’s Mathew Ragg.
In Heat 3, the UK’s Shane Flowers secured a place in the final. He came in second, just behind South Africa’s Rayno Nel.
Heat 4 saw America’s Trey Mitchell and the Czech Republic’s Ondřej Fojtů head into the final.
When is the World’s Strongest Man 2025 final?
The Grand Final of World’s Strongest Man 2025 will air at 7:30pm on New Year’s Day (January 1, 2026).
Now, there’s something important to remember: the competition took place in May this year.
That means the winner has already been announced, and you could easily stumble on a huge spoiler. So, if you’re following the contest on Channel 5, be cautious on social media and when Googling any of the strongmen.
