Co-stars pay tribute as Nicola Mitchell star Laura Doddington celebrates massive milestone

The EastEnders cast have have paid tribute to Laura Doddington as she celebrated a major milestone this week. The actress, who plays Michell matriarch and Queen of the boy mamas Nicola, marked one year on the soap yesterday (Tuesday, November 11).

To mark the occasion, she posted a slideshow of Nicola’s best bits to her Instagram account, opening with the message: “Can not believe it is a year since Nicola Mitchell arrived on the Square! What a year!”

What a year indeed! Only last week, Nicola learned that son Harry was being held captive by evil drug dealer Okie… and that she’s pregnant with George Knight’s baby.

This follows a tumultous 12 months on the Square, in which it was revealed that (deep breath) son Harry was the result of an affair with Zack, and that she’d killed other son Harry’s girlfriend, Shireen.

There’s never a dull moment with Nicola Mitchell, eh.

Laura Doddington celebrates one year on EastEnders

In the caption to her Instagram post, Laura wrote: “I still cannot believe my absolute luck that I get to play Nicola Mitchell. A year on screen today!”

She continued: “Can’t imagine my life without this amazing character and the absolutely awesome team at Eastenders! What a lucky woman I am.”

The ensuing picture montage contained a mix of behind-the-scenes snaps combined with EastEnders publicity pictures and selfies with co-stars Roland Manookian (who plays sometime husband Teddy), and screen son Elijah Holloway, who plays Harry Mitchell.

Co-stars pay tribute to one year of Nicola Mitchell

In the comments below, Laura’s co-stars paid tribute. Ravi Gulati star Aaron Thiara kicked things off, writing: “I’m Team Dodders all day everyday.”

“And what a year!” said Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki Panesar.

Meanwhile Emma Barton (aka Honey Mitchell) shared a series of love heart emojis, while Heather Peace responded with a flame and an explosion emoji.

“Queen Dodders x Happy Walford Birthday friend!” said Vicki Fowler actress Alice Haig.

Happy EastEnders anniversary to Laura! Here’s hoping for many years more of the already-iconic Nicola Mitchell!
