Who plays newcomer Tim Walton on EastEnders? All you need to know about Johnny's flashy new pal

A new face arrived on Albert Square tonight, as Tim Walton made his EastEnders debut. A former client of Johnny’s law firm and an old university pal, Tim wasted little time in impressing Johnny and Elaine with his fancy suit and expensive taste in drinks.

Tim’s arrival came as Johnny mooted a new business idea. Having been fired for drunkenly messaging a business proposal to his entire clients’ list (including his boss), Johnny was intrigued when Tim got in touch.

The pair met up in the soap tonight (Tuesday, October 21), to the surprise (and maybe even jealousy) of Callum. Zoe, too, took interesting, pouring Tim a drink as they exchanged charged banter at the bar of The Vic.

But who is Tim – and who is the actor who plays him?

Who plays Johnny’s friend Tim on EastEnders?

Credited as Timothy Walton in the final credits, Tim is played by actor Tom Ratcliffe. Prior to appearing in EastEnders, Tom made his film debut in Once Upon A Time in London in 2019, where he appeared briefly as Teenager #3.

In 2023, he played a character called Englebert in the TV series Patterns, and showed up as Adam Blake in the 2024 series Queenie. He has an extensive background in theatre, having written a number of plays for the stage, and also directed Breeding, by Barry McStay in 2024, and Fame Whore, by himself and Gigi Zahir in 2022.

On his website, Tom describes the role of Tim as ‘recurring’ – meaning that we can expect to see Tim pop up again in future episodes.

But is Tim all that he seems to be? Or is Callum’s trepidation more than justified?

Suspicious Callum warns Johnny about Tim in EastEnders spoilers

Callum was surprised to find that Tim wasn’t at all what he’d expected tonight. And, as the story continues tomorrow, he tries to warn Johnny about getting into (metaphorical) bed with Tim.

However, Johnny ignores Callum’s advice, and he and Tim soon announce that they’ve gone into business together.

But is Tim all he seems?
