EastEnders airs a blast from the past tonight (Thursday, October 30), as Zoe and her mum sit down to watch a home movie from the 1980s – featuring a young Kat Slater. Discovered by Alfie in the barrel store, this video contains footage of the family in 1988.

That’s a time capsule of the whole Slater clan – dad Charlie, mum Viv and uh, ‘sisters’ Kat, Lynne, Belinda, Little Mo and Zoe. Then there’s Uncle Harry, of course, whose arrival in the video sparked a horrified reaction from Zoe, and sparks some serious questions from Tommy tonight.

And, as the family settle down to confront their traumatic past, more footage of a Slater Family Halloween airs tonight.

But who plays young Kat Slater and her family? And what else have they been in?

Who plays young Kat Slater in EastEnders tonight?

Young Kat is played by Amelia Crouch, who is described on her IMDb profile as “a young up and coming British actress from Surrey.” Amelia’s EastEnders role is the latest in an already impressive career in TV and film.

The actress made her debut in 2014 with the horror sequel The Woman In Black 2, before appearing in fantasy blockbusters The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016) and Alice Through The Looking Glass (2016). In 2021, she appeared in the action film Kate, where she played the younger version of Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s character.

She is joined by child star Effie Mander, who plays little Zoe. Libby Brake plays young Lynne, with Layla Ingleby, Cerys Wing and Scarlett Brookes playing Little Mo, Belinda, and Viv, respectively.

And then there’s Uncle Harry…

Who plays young Harry Slater, and what else has he been in?

Zoe’s joy took a sharp turn when horrible Harry Slater appeared in the video last night. Actor Stephen Leask takes over the role from Michael Elphick, who portrayed the character in 2001.

Stephen has appeared in a number of major television series since his first credited role in 2013. This includes two episodes of Doctors in 2017 and 2021, and an appearance in the ITV1 drama Trigger Point in 2022.

In 2023, he appeared in Call The Midwife as a character named Tony Hopkiss. He also appeared in this year’s TV dramas Silo and Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes.

This makes Stephen the third actor to play Harry Slater, with actor Dale Hayes previously portraying the character for a flashback in a 2018 episode.
