Mark Jr has had a busy week in EastEnders, and today’s episode saw him stoop to a new low as he targeted Lauren in a bid to make some quick cash. But next week sees a new deadly twist in Mark’s story when he goes to desperate lengths to pay off his debts.

Mark’s week went from bad to worse

After beating Ravi half to death earlier this week, Mark’s been under pressure from his boss to finish the job.

Vicki tried to persuade Mark that there must be another way to sort out the mess he’s got himself into. But he’d been told he had 24 hours to get rid of Ravi for good.

While Ravi’s mental health spiralled, Vicki took matters into her own hands and begged Phil to help Mark. While Phil was reluctant to get involved in his nephew’s drama, he agreed to make some calls.

Mark was grateful when Phil said he would pull some strings. And, like a knight in shining armour, Phil managed to get Mark off the hook with his boss. However, there was a catch. While he no longer had to kill Ravi, he now owed his gaffer £100k to settle his debt.

Phil saved the day – again!

Horrified that he now owed so much money, Mark knew there was no way he could get his hands on that kind of cash. So he took desperate measures… and unfortunately, Lauren got caught in the middle.

After promising Max she would sell the classic car at the car lot, Lauren couldn’t believe her luck when Mark took an interest in the motor. They took it for a test drive, and Lauren was convinced she had the sale in the bag. However, her hopes were dashed when Mark confessed he didn’t have the cash.

Lauren was miffed, but when Mark offered to buy her lunch to soften the blow, she agreed. As Mark left her to go and get some sandwiches, Lauren was attacked by a seemingly random thug, who hit her, knocked her to the ground and stole the keys before driving off in the car.

Mark races out to chase the car down the road and soon comes to Lauren’s aid, taking her back to Albert Square to her family.

While Peter played the worried husband to perfection, Max seemed to care more about the stolen car than his traumatised daughter and went to call the insurance company.

Meanwhile, Mark made a hasty exit, but not before accepting the cash for the taxi they had to get home from Max.

EastEnders: Mark Jr’s true colours were revealed

In a shock twist, Mark was later revealed to have set up the whole ordeal. He met up with the man who attacked Lauren and was fuming that she got hurt, telling him that wasn’t part of the deal.

But with Mark now stealing cars for quick cash to pay off his debts, it won’t be long before Lauren gets caught up in more drama over the coming weeks…

The drama continues in EastEnders next week for Mark

Next week, Mark makes a business proposition to Lauren. He offers to provide luxury cars for her to sell at the car lot. At first, she isn’t sure. But she eventually agrees and gets off to a good start when she sells one of the motors.

However, Callum arrives to tell her that the classic car that was stolen in the mugging has turned up. He also says other cars have gone missing in the local area, and the penny drops.

Realising that Mark’s cars might not be quite as legit as he promised, she goes to confront him. But what will she unearth?

What else happened on EastEnders tonight?

As well as Lauren being the victim of an attack set up by Mark, Ravi went to see the doctor about his mental health.

Also, Phil avoided going to see Nigel for the fourth day running, and Oscar got the sack from both Elaine and Ian!

Ravi went to see the doctor

Priya made Ravi a doctor's appointment, but once there, he was so detached from what was going on around him that he struggled to answer questions about his mental health. Priya was horrified when the GP said she would refer Ravi to the mental health team, but it would take eight weeks to get an appointment. The doctor prescribed Ravi medication for his anxiety... and Ravi reassured Priya that he was on the mend. But little did she know, he was hiding the true depth of his anguish.

Phil continued to shut Nigel out

Having used Lexi being out of school as an excuse not to see Nigel all week, Phil continued to avoid him today. Julie noticed that he hadn't been to the care home, and admitted it wasn't her favourite place either, but that Nigel needed to see familiar faces. The pair fell out, and when Julie suggested they go to see Nigel together at the weekend, Phil shut her down.

Oscar got sacked - twice!

After his hilarious smear campaign against Ian became the talk of Albert Square, Oscar had a brainstorming meeting with Elaine. However, Ian caught the pair talking and sacked Oscar on the spot. But, when Oscar told Ian he wasn't really going to give away his campaign secrets to Elaine, she also promptly fired him.
