Has Nigel killed Jasmine and Gina? All we know following car crash terror

Jasmine and Gina were caught in confused Nigel's path
Joel Harley

A confused Nigel Bates was responsible for a catastrophic car crash in EastEnders tonight (Monday, October 20), putting Jasmine and Gina’s lives in peril as he ploughed into them on the street. Jasmine pushed Gina out of the way, but both were knocked unconscious as the episode ended.

This came as Nigel attempted to take his beloved Morris Minor for one last spin – but left the two ladies fighting for their lives as events took a terrible turn.

How badly has Nigel hurt Jasmine and Gina?

Here’s what happened in EastEnders tonight – and what happens next as the story continues.

Nigel sold his car in EastEnders tonight

Nigel was getting his Morris Minor ready to sell, so as to fund his and Julie’s trip to India. However, he inadvertently used the wrong brush, and damaged the paintwork in the process.

Meanwhile, a worried Julie confided in Jean, telling her that she’d had to hide the keys from Nigel in case he took it upon himself to go on a drive. The problem being, she couldn’t remember where she’d stashed the spare.

After signing over the car to Lauren (at a discount – thanks to the damage), Nigel sat down for a chat with Yolande. He was already having second thoughts, worrying that maybe he wasn’t up to a trip to India after all.

Back home, Nigel was making a cuppa when he discovered the spare keys, stashed in with the tea. As Julie wittered on about India, Nigel grew stressed-out, and broke the news that he couldn’t go to India after all.

Nigel grew upset when Julie attempted to dismiss his concerns, and stormed off. His strop didn’t take him very far – to the car lot, to be exact, where he climbed into his car and headed off for a little drive.

Jasmine and Gina left unconscious in EastEnders’ Nigel car crash aftermath

A heartbroken Gina drowned her sorrows at The Albert. As Gina downed the shots, Jasmine pressed her for information on Cindy and her dodgy past. But why is Jasmine so interested?

Whatever the reason, Jasmine was thrilled to be getting all the dirt she’d craved on Cindy, and became frustrated with Oscar’s arrival. Bull-in-a-China-shop Oscar wasted little time causing chaos, annoying Jasmine and forcing the women to take their drinks out on the town.

Meanwhile, Nigel had become overwhelmed after stalling his car on a busy road. A call from Julie didn’t help matters, and he soon found himself in a tizz. And, as he rounded the corner, Nigel ploughed straight into Jasmine, who had pushed Gina out of the way of the oncoming car.

As both women lay unconscious in the road before him, shocked Nigel reeled at what he’d just done.

What happens next as Jasmine and Gina fight for their lives

In EastEnders spoilers for tomorrow, a shocked Nigel surveys the carnage he has wrought. But will Jasmine and Gina pull through?

While the soap hasn’t revealed the ladies’ fate just yet, Wednesday’s episode sees Julie lie and tell Nigel that she was the one who had been driving. Nigel’s not buying it though and, realising that he may have been responsible, decides to turn himself into Jack.

Will Jasmine and Gina pull through? And will the police charge Nigel for what he’s done?

What else happened on EastEnders tonight?

As a terrible situation unfolded on the Square, another was taking place at Kojo's flat. Still locked up by Okie, desperate Harry made a last-ditch attempt to save Kojo, warning him to run away from his handlers as he made a phone call to his friend.

But how much trouble has Harry landed himself in?

Meanwhile, Jean and Zoe's bickering distracted the Slaters from an upset Tommy, while Oscar's joy at having his ankle tag removed was short-lived. Elsewhere, a newly unemployed Johnny looked to the future.

Here's what else happened in EastEnders tonight.

Harry tried to warn Kojo

George was worried about Kojo (again) as his brother's radio silence continued. At the flat, the drugs operation was in full swing, while  a drugged-up Harry remained locked up in bed.

Spotting George and Gina on the street, Okie sidled up with an excuse - claiming that Kojo had broken his phone, hence missing his scheduled call with Kobina. Put on the spot, Okie made a show of calling Harry - and made up more lies about Harry's party mad behaviour in Cardiff.

Harry was having a party, but not the kind Okie had claimed. Okie returned home and had Harry call Kojo, ordering him to get in touch with George and give him the all-clear.

After tricking Okie out of a slap-up meal (well, a sandwich), Harry called Kojo  - and told him to run.

Tommy despaired as the Slaters' arguing continued

The school were ready to have Tommy back, but Tommy wasn't ready to return following Joel's attack on Vicki. Meanwhile, Zoe was keen to pursue her Private Investigator to find her son, although things had hit the skids, with Vicki away.

Tension arose between the family with the arrival of Jean, who upset Tommy by bringing up Joel, Vicki and Ross. As Ross shared drinks with Ian and Harvey at The Vic, he asked how Tommy was doing - only to have Zoe chew his ear off on her brother's behalf.

Noticing Anthony's wistful looks at Zoe, Jean decided to put her oar in. Overhearing Jean warning her off, Zoe snapped back, and another argument broke out. Upstairs, Kat and Alfie completely failed in mending bridges.

At the cafe, a guilty Joel was harangued by Ricky and Lily, who assured him that everyone at school still hated him for his association with Joel.

Oscar's a free man

Having been a good boy for the last few months (the whole Patrick incident notwithstanding), Oscar was preparing to have his ankle tag removed. However, his good mood was soon spoiled by talk of his deadbeat dad, and Jasmine later describing him as an 'idiot.'

Poor Oscar!

Johnny planned for the future

Lexi's bonding time with one of her three dads was interrupted by Johnny, who still hadn't gotten the message. Johnny had enough on his mind as it was - now jobless, he was looking for his next move.

An old friend and client, Timothy, had been in touch, and was keen to get into business together.
