What happened in EastEnders tonight: Alfie's lies continued, Oscar burned his last bridge, and Suki demanded an answer

Alfie wasted little time in telling more lies
Joel Harley

A hungover, guilt-ridden Alfie Moon returned to EastEnders tonight (Monday, July 28), and was reunited with Kat for the first time since his trip to Spain. He remembered nothing about his drunken confession to Kat the night before, and was shocked to realise he’d sent a voicemail admitting everything during his blackout period.

Thankfully, a thief intervened before Kat could discover the whole truth, and it seemed as though Alfie had gotten away with everything. But how much longer can he and Stacey keep the truth about Zoe a secret?

Elsewhere, Oscar slipped up after being attacked by Mike, accidentally catching Peter in the crossfire. And, with Suki’s offer to adopt Avani’s baby lingering, she was keen to get answers. But will Avani go along with Suki’s scheme?

And, as Ravi and Kojo applied the pressure, Harry struggled to cope. How much longer can he carry on?

Here’s everything that happened in EastEnders tonight.

Alfie’s lies continued in EastEnders tonight

Alfie returned home to Walford to find the flat a state and Elaine half-naked in his bedroom. Meanwhile, at The Vic, Bert and Ernie were running riot as Jean attempted to clean up after the night before.

Kat was just about to listen to Alfie’s voice message when she was distracted a scream from Jean – who’d taken a dart to the arm. Ouch. The distractions continued as Big Mo returned from her night in a jail cell, after being arrested for ‘shaking her lettuce’ in the Square the night before. Alfie’s message – and drunken confession – would have to wait, then.

Meanwhile, Alfie arrived in the café, still searching for answers. As he ordered a coffee for the hangover, he admitted that he was struggling to remember the night before – which included his incriminating message to Kat.

He arrived in the pub, where he found Stacey, informing her that he’d been unable to find Zoe due to her not stumping up the cash. Just then, Kat emerged from the back of The Vic, with the bombshell news that she’d bought the pub. She then confronted him over his cancer lie and the fact he’d been off on a mission to see, uh, Hayley and Cherry, flinging his cheap pinata gift back in his face.

Upstairs, Alfie was sharing a moment with Nana Moon (or her picture) when Kat arrived for Round Two. He apologised for lying about ‘Hayley and Cherry,’ and promised never to lie to her again. That said, there was one more big lie to deal with – the drunken voicemail, which Kat had not yet listened to.

As Stacey distracted Kat, Alfie attempted to delete the incriminating message. Kat got there first though, and snatched the phone back to finish listening. Thankfully, divine intervention (and an oik on an e-scooter) managed to save Alfie’s bacon, grabbing the phone as Kat stood outside the pub. Disaster averted!

Oscar attacked Peter

Oscar was still on edge after his threat from Mike the night before. Louie soon dropped him in it by asking if Mike would be coming around again.

Recognising the name, Lauren demanded to know what had happened. Oscar promised to speak to Jack and get the situation sorted…. but, in reality, had something else in mind. Oscar arrived for his shift at the stall only to spot Mike and his pal Harrison watching from across the Square. Keen to settle things, the boys took things to a nearby alleyway.

After a little snappy back-and-forth, Mike and Harrison set about giving Oscar a beating. They were about to finish the job with a brick when Jack arrived on the scene. However, Oscar’s not even nearly out of trouble though, and the involvement of his police officer uncle only made Mike more set on revenge.

That night, spotting someone sneaking around the hallway, paranoid Oscar attacked… grabbing Peter and threatening him with a knife. Peter was appalled to learn that Oscar had been hiding a blade in his room, and promptly kicked him out of the house.

Has Oscar run out of chances?

Avani made her choice in EastEnders tonight

Suki was keen to know whether Avani had given any thought of her offer to adopt the baby. At McKlunky’s, Avani filled Barney in on the situation and Avani’s offer.

It was here where Suki found her, and continued the hard sell. Determining that she hadn’t consulted Eve yet, Avani stormed over to Stacey’s Baps to take matters into her own hands. As Eve cooed over baby Jimmy, sneaky Avani got her to admit that kids weren’t on her radar whatsoever.

Suki wouldn’t be deterred though, and continued to stalk her granddaughter around Walford. After accusing her of using the baby to make up for past poor parenting, Avani revealed that the abortion was still on, and she’d booked her appointment for tomorrow.

Harry felt the pressure

After giving his mum the cold shoulder, Harry bumped into George and Kojo on the market. As George nagged him to contribute to the bills, Harry headed to his next meeting with Harry and Kojo.

He returned home that evening to face some tough questions from Kojo and more nagging from George. George had found Harry’s hold-alls – nearly stumbling across the drugs within. Harry’s bad day worsened with a visit from Okie, who snuck in while Harry’s housemates were distracted. With another visit came another bag full of illicit contraband, and more pressure.

In this bag? Kat’s missing phone…

Also on EastEnders tonight

In The Vic, Patrick admitted to Yolande that he’d lost money on his latest bet. And, after a run-in on the market, Nicola flirted with George.
