What happened in EastEnders tonight: Jack learned the truth about Patrick's attack

Oscar accidentally spilled the beans

Jack Branning learned that nephew Oscar had been behind Patrick’s attack on EastEnders tonight (Thursday, August 21), as the guilt-ridden teenager accidentally admitted what he’d done. Jack was out for answers after overhearing a heated conversation between Howie and Oscar last night, but got more than he bargained for when (most of) the truth came tumbling out.

Will copper Jack turn in his own nephew?

Elsewhere, a search party was launched when Nigel lost Julie’s beloved rooster. Meanwhile, Harry managed to smooth things over with Kojo and George. But for how long?

Jack learned what Oscar had done in EastEnders tonight

It was the morning after the night before, and Jack had been stewing over what he’d heard last night. He collared Oscar and demanded to know what he’d been arguing with Howie about.

Oscar gave his uncle the brush-off, claiming that Howie’d merely been seeking advice over the stag do. At said stag do, Jack sidled up to Howie, where he was equally unsuccessful in getting to the bottom of the situation.

Arriving at the stag, Oscar soon became life and soul of the party, kicking things off with a game of spoons. Howie pulled Oscar aside as he headed off for a slash (his words, not ours), and the pair got into a physical confrontation as the argument worsened. Alarmed by the situation, Patrick suffered a panic attack.

Outside, Jack demanded answers from Howie and Oscar, who remained tight-lipped. Meanwhile, Yolande checked in with Patrick as he recovered in bed, seemingly none the wiser as to the true nature of Oscar and Howie’s fight.

Oscar had run off after the fight, and Jack was still convinced he was hiding something. Lauren made excuses for her brother, telling him about the incident with Peter and the knife.

Jack found Oscar in the park, slugging beers. As Jack confronted him over Peter and the knife, Oscar got the wrong end of the stick and the truth about Patrick slipped out.

What will Jack do with this information?

Julie's cockerel goes walkies

Bend it like Peckham

As Nigel made sock puppets with Lexi and Julie, Phil dropped the news that Julie’s rooster had gone missing. Concerned about how upset Julie would be if anything happened to David Peckham, Nigel launched a search party.

They were perhaps the only ones on the Square who hadn’t seen David Peckham that day, with the residents of Walford apparently not thinking anything amiss about a cockerel wandering Albert Square. Life in London, eh.

As Nigel blamed himself for the rooster’s disappearance, they spotted the bird heading into Harry’s Barn for the hen do. Hen do, geddit. Yolande’s party were shocked to see a rogue bird running riot over the bar, and Julie rushed in to capture the creature.

Back home, Nigel once again begged Phil to play nice, for Julie’s sake.

Harry reassures Kojo in EastEnders

Harry’s in the clear… for now

Harry was hard at work wiping phones for Okie, but overcome with worry about Kojo. Ravi was understandably annoyed to hear of what Okie had done, and charged Harry with getting Kojo back home and under control before the situation worsened.

Harry paid a visit to Kojo at Phil’s house, and explained that everyone would be in trouble if he didn’t return home. Doing a spot of manipulation himself, he got Kojo to admit that he’d gotten the drugs from a street dealer.

Having taken Harry’s advice to heart, Kojo told George that he’d sourced the drugs himself, and returned to the flat.

In the cafe, George filled Elaine in on what had happened. She suggested that George’s paranoia about Harry might be more rooted in his recent lack of purpose.

Nicola caught up with her son at The Arches, where she shared some words of advice with her son. And a cuddle too, with poor dead pregnant Shireen water under the bridge.

In The Vic, Harry joined George, Gina and Kojo for a drink. Revealing that he knew Harry and Gina had begun dating, George put on a show of amicability. However, as he revealed to Jack afterwards, it was all an act, as he waited for Harry to slip up…

Also on EastEnders tonight

The teenagers had gotten their GCSE results, and it was good news for everyone except Barney, who had failed chemistry, and Avani who had failed Maths and English. On Ben Wadey’s tube set, the youths were continuing to celebrate when they spotted Joel. As Avani sloped off at the nearest stop, Denzel and Amy fired off a few well-aimed insults at the red-piller.

Between the events of Patrick’s stag and David Peckham’s sudden appearance, Stacey took the time to press Eve for information on her marriage, but Eve refused to drawn into whether they were over for good.

Back on the Square, Suki slunk up next to Avani, where she offered a few words of advice. Avani reciprocated with some words of advice of her own; suggesting that it wasn’t too late to reconcile with Eve.
