EastEnders spoilers for: What happened in EastEnders tonight: Oscar caused chaos, Jay called Julie, and Harry moved out

Oscar wasted little time causing trouble

Oscar Branning returned to Walford in EastEnders tonight (Monday, July 14), reuniting with sister Lauren after being released from the local Youth Detention Centre. As he settled in with Lauren and his family, it soon became clear that Oscar’s in serious trouble.

Will Lauren come to regret letting Oscar stick around?

Elsewhere, Jay was determined to track down Julie after clashing with Phil over Nigel. Meanwhile, Ravi set new employee Harry to work. But, after suspicious Teddy caught them both out, Harry clashed with his dad and decided to move out.

And, with The Vic sale impending, Linda gave Kat an update.

Here’s everything that happened in EastEnders tonight.

Oscar Branning returned to Walford in EastEnders tonight

After settling their differences last week, Lauren and Peter were all loved up.  She was hot under the collar at his talk of a new fruit and veg van, but Peter worried that an insistent Unknown Number might be the social, ahead of their scheduled visit this week.

Putting two and two together, he wondered whether her thing for car talk might be a ‘daddy kink’ related to her own second hand car dealer dad, Max. Between this and all the talk of ‘bonking,’ we almost preferred it when they were arguing.

The pre-marital bliss wasn’t to last, anyway. Answering the phone, Lauren rushed off in a panic. Ian was quick to share his insinuations, but Peter brushed him off, insistent that their relationship is in a good place now.

He was interrupted by a visit from a member of the Youth Offending Team, who’d come to assess whether the house was a suitable fit for… Oscar Branning, who reunited with his sister at the Youth Detention Centre, from where he’d just been released.

What’s Oscar been up to?

Oscar explained where he’d been

Oscar explained that he’d been sentenced to three months after stealing a car – and been kicked out by their mum, Tanya. As he filled Lauren in on the full story, Oscar claimed that it had been a mate (Fat Mike) who’d actually stolen the car.

As retribution for his turning snitch, Fat Mike and his pals had firebombed Tanya’s neighbour’s house (it’s fine though, he’s a racist). Hence the need for Lauren’s sofa.

With Lauren not exactly receptive to the idea, Oscar heaped on the emotional blackmail – telling her that Abi would have been more than obliging. Ouch. Just then, Ian and Peter arrived. As Oscar continued to run his smart mouth at ‘himbo boyfriend’ Peter (himbo fiancée, actually) and ‘fish guy’ Ian, the family debated what to do.

But Ian and Peter weren’t the only ones on the warpath – Fat Mike and his pals (including horse-hung Harrison, and Frankie, who once decked a seagull) had arrived, looking for Oscar. After the Beales’ attempt at seeing off Fat Mike & Friends failed, the gang beat a hasty retreat, in Peter’s new van.

Oscar reunited with Uncle Jack in EastEnders tonight

Oscar wasn’t the only Branning back in town – Jack had returned from his visit to sister Suzy. Reuniting with Denise, Penny and Amy, it wasn’t long before he came face-to-face with another relative. ‘Sup, uncle Jack!

Inside, Jack and Ian were united in their disapproval of chaotic Oscar. Especially given that the social’s visit is still looming. Lauren and Peter tried to palm him off on Jack, but Oscar heaped on a little more emotional blackmail, scoring himself a place to stay, in the downstairs bedroom.

Once alone, Oscar fished a knife out of the drawer and pulled out his phone to a menacing message from Fat Mike. Has Oscar unwittingly put his family in grave danger?

Jay tracked down Julie

It was almost Lexi’s birthday, and she was after tickets to see Billie Eilish in Manchester. Jay couldn’t afford it, but moneybags Phil was more than happy to spoil the soon-to-be birthday girl. As Phil got to work buying the tickets while she and Nigel played cards, talk turned to Nigel’s wedding day.

Jay wondered whether Julie really could have moved on since he walked out, but Phil was quick to change the subject. Later, he talked to Callum about what had happened – although Callum was more distracted by Johnny, sitting at the bar in his finest vest.

Overhearing the conversation, Kat shared how she’d told Phil to call Julie weeks ago. Sharing her concern that Phil had taken on more than he could manage, she had Jay more determined than ever to reunite Nigel and Julie.

After discovering a series of posts from Julie desperately searching for her husband, Jay continued his Quest for Julie at the launderette, where Yolande shared her own perspective on the situation.

Later, at The Vic, he attempted to talk to Nigel about Julie. However, he succeeded only in causing Nigel to storm off upset, and for Phil to get grumpy again. Frustrated, Jay accused Phil of using Nigel as a crutch, reminding him of his recent mental health issues, and how poorly he’d dealt with Lola’s death.

Later, with thoughts of Lola weighing heavy on his mind, Jay took action, and made the call.

Harry argued with Teddy as he started dealing for Ravi

Ravi arrived at The Arches with drugs for Harry to sell, and a reminder of his debt. Harry reiterated the lie that it had been a break-in, but Ravi was having none of it.

Teddy arrived just as Ravi issued a reminder that the new job wasn’t a voluntary position, and his suspicions were soon aroused. Back home, he confronted Harry over his suspicions, and promised to deal with it.

But Harry wanted none of his dad’s interference, and stormed out of the house in his brand new drug-dealing jacket – determined to find somewhere new to live by the end of the day. This, as it turned out, was The Arches, where he bedded down for the night.

Linda made a plan

At The Vic, Linda explained that she’d decided to sell the pub at an auction. With sale of The Vic looming, who will take over the beloved local boozer?
