WARNINGThis article contains spoilers for today’s episode of EastEnders, which is streaming on BBC iPlayer now, but has yet to air on BBC One – in which one character makes their exit from Walford.

One Walford resident said goodbye to Walford in EastEnders this week, following a dramatic few days on Albert Square. The Knight family have been feeling the pressure since the situation at Kojo’s flat was revealed, with George in an even grumpier mood than usual.

He’s taken much of his frustration out on Junior, resulting in yet another feud between the two Knight men. But with Junior having packed his bags for Walford, can they make amends before they go their separate ways?

Junior makes Walford exit in EastEnders today

As the episode begins, Junior’s bags are packed, and he’s ready to go. He’s shocked to hear that George is planning to send Kojo back to Ghana, and decides to sort out the situation for his dad and his uncle before he leaves.

He pays a visit to Ravi, who assures him that his men will leave Kojo alone from now on. After sharing the news with George, the two men settle their differences. He also finds the time to say goodbye to Cindy, who’s returned from her own visit to sister Gina (not to be confused with daughter Gina).

And, as the episode ends, George and the Knights gather for Junior’s send-off – with father and son on good terms for once, as he rides off into the sunset.

So long Junior! But did the character deserve better?

Fans blast ‘wasted potential’ as Junior leaves

Taking to social media as the episode streamed on BBC iPlayer, fans shared their thoughts on Junior’s exit from the soap. And many agreed that he deserved more than he ultimately got from his time in Walford.

“Such a shame that Junior is leaving because Micah Balfour is amazing actor. He was great in the bill and they should’ve given him better storylines,” wrote one fan.

“Micah Balfour is a great actor and junior was a good character. So much could’ve been done with him instead of stretched out storylines to ppl who canon [sic] act wasted potential,” said another.

“I really liked Junior’s exit episode. It’s such a shame that we’ve lost him Micah Balfour is such a talented actor as this week’s scenes have proven. I wish the writters built on his character more as opposed to making him one dimensional,” said a third.

A fourth agreed: “Why didn’t we see more of this side of Junior this year? He’s been great with Nigel.”
