As fears grow for prison exit, fans 'work out' how Teddy can still be saved

Is there a way out for Teddy?
Joel Harley

EastEnders fans have found themselves terrified for Teddy Mitchell’s future as he faced fifteen years in prison this week. Teddy nobly (if not-very-smartly) decided to take the blame for son Harry stabbing drug dealer Okie to death, confessing to the crime.

Teddy claimed self-defence, but the police weren’t buying it, and charged Teddy with murder. Yesterday (Thursday, November 13), Teddy told Nicola that he’d be pleading guilty, out of fear that the police would realise what had really happened.

This means that he faces a fifteen-year stretch (at minimum) behind bars. Is this the end for Teddy Mitchell?

EastEnders fans ‘work out’ how Teddy will be saved from prison

As last night’s episode aired, fans shared their thoughts on social media. And while many bemoaned the possible loss of Roland Manookian as Teddy, some mooted the idea that Harry’s overdose could lead to him changing his mind about the guilty plea.

“Harry having an overdose is surely going to help Teddy reassess his options and make him realise that a fall on his sword for Harry wasn’t the best idea,” wrote one fan on X.

“Surely when Nicola tells him what Harry did… he’ll go through with a trial instead of risk being away from his boys for upwards of 15 years?!” said another, via Reddit.

A third agreed: “I’d think this will be Teddy’s motivation. Harry needs him so he has to fight to get free. Adds more emotional stakes to the court case.”

All we know as fans fear Teddy’s exit from soap

The events of this week has led to much speculation that Teddy had been axed from the soap. However, it’s important to note that neither the BBC nor actor Roland Manookian have said whether this marks Teddy’s exit storyline.

By comparison, EastEnders announced that both Junior and Okie would be leaving, prior to their departures this week.

With no such announcement accompanying Teddy’s arrest, there may well be a twist in store to his tale. Stay posted!
