Zoe Slater Share By Joel Harley Sep 8 2025 By Joel Harley Sep 8 2025 EastEnders Executive Producer Ben Wadey has finally confirmed the fate of Zoe Slater‘s mysterious twin brother, Luke. In 2016, the soap revealed that Kat had given birth to twins, one of which had been given up for adoption without her knowledge. In the subsequent 2017 spin-off, Kat and Alfie travelled to the small Irish town of Redwater in search of her long-lost son. Kat succeeded in tracking Luke down, where he was living as a priest under the name of Dermott Dolan. The soap has never addressed what happened to Luke Slater since then – nor whether the character even exits in the soap’s world now. With Zoe having recently returned to EastEnders after 20 years away, fans are still desperate to know where this leaves the events of Redwater. Wonder no more – boss Ben Wadey has spoken out on the state of Luke Slater and Kat and Alfie: Redwater. So there you have it! The Dolan name lives on! (Credit: BBC) EastEnders fans spot Redwater link in recent Zoe scenes Last week’s EastEnders revealed that Zoe had given birth to twins of her own. With one dying in childbirth, she abandoned the other one at the hospital. Further flashbacks showed how she sought to track her long-lost son down, even enlisting a Private Investigator as help. Viewers were quick to notice that Zoe’s detective was credited as a man named Greg Dolan. Spotting the name ‘Dolan,’ some drew a link to Redwater’s Dermott, or Luke. “it just a coincidence that the man who she hit’s last name is Dolan, the same last name as her twin brother Dermott Dolan?” asked one fan on Reddit. “Probably a coincidence or a cheeky little reference but did anyone else notice in the credits that the last name of the guy who Zoe attacked after asking her for more money is Dolan…” said another. While Redwater may no longer be canon, the Dolan name lives on. Read more: Who’s leaving, joining and returning to EastEnders? Complete list of cast exits, arrivals and returns.
