Doctor Anthony returned to Walford earlier this year, celebrating his dad’s marriage to Yolande. He’s stuck around since then, revealing that he’s separated from his wife and subsequently finding a job on Albert Square. This has coincided with Zoe’s own return, reuniting with her old flame after decades apart. And, as Anthony revealed to Patrick yesterday, he’s going all in on his ‘relationship’ with Zoe, and not giving up on his second chance at love with his, uh, other ex’s daughter. But between his somewhat unsettling Internet history (that’s quite the collection of pictures of his ex) and those mysterious phone calls, some viewers aren’t enjoying what the soap’s done to Anthony Trueman since his return. Another said: “If Anthony is the one messing with Zoe then it feels like they’ve changed/ruined his character. Wouldn’t have thought he’d have it in him.” “Why is Dr Anthony suddenly a sad needy creep,” said a third. “Why are they making Anthony’s character so horrible and seems so desperate now??” another asked. It’s certainly the change of direction for Anthony – who was always portrayed as the ‘good’ son during his original stint on the soap.
