Baby Mark arrived on Phil’s doorstep, battered and bruised last night, just as he was planning to escape Walford with Nigel. Phil was shocked to see his nephew come stumbling through the door, in a clear state of distress. This raises the big question – what brings Mark back to Walford? However, other viewers had an entirely different concern. Namely, who is Mark Fowler? Mark’s back… but why? And how? And who? And while many were excited by the prospect of Mark’s mysterious return, others were left confused by the comeback of a character not everyone remembered. “I’ve watched Eastenders for years and for the life of me I can’t recall who this Mark is!” exclaimed one fan on Reddit. Soap history explained Mark, for the uninitiated, is the son of Michelle Fowler and Grant Mitchell. Born of their one-night-stand, Mark Jr. was named after his uncle – Michelle’s brother – Mark. Previously played by Ned Porteous, he left the soap in 2016, soon after learning the truth about his dad. And now he’s back on the scene! But what does the future hold for baby Mark? Well, if next week’s EastEnders spoilers are anything to go by, he’s hiding a big secret.
