And they fear she is now dead, as the matriarch appeared to slip away after hearing a shocking confession from Sean. Did Jean pass away after finding peace with Sean? Enjoying precious time together in the countryside, touching scenes included Sean shaving his mum’s hair off after clumps of it had begun to fall out. When Sean realised how weak his mum was, he decided it was time to get a mammoth secret off his chest… Believing Jean was on her deathbed, he told her he had killed his own dad when he was a teenager. He told her: “Mum, I know this isn’t the best time. I killed him. I killed Dad.” Touching scenes between Sean and Jean left viewers sobbing (Credit: BBC) Although Jean believed her late husband Brian had died from a brain haemorrhage, Sean put her right. He explained: “Because I hit him, mum. I punched him and then he died. Because of me. It was me.” As Sean confessed his sins, mum Jean drifted out of consciousness. Her final words to her son were, “I love you”, before she appeared to fade away. With Sean frantically trying to call an ambulance, but unable to get a signal, fans feared the worst for Jean.
