The BBC axed actor Jamie Borthwick earlier this month, in the wake of his Strictly Come Dancing scandal. This leaves the fate of Jay up in the air – with Jamie no longer returning to the soap, any exit will have to occur off-screen. EastEnders shared where Jay is last night, with Lauren revealing to Peter how he’d gone to take care of granddad Bert, who has fallen ill. While the soap has yet to address his more permanent exit, it’s likely that he won’t ever be back from Bert. Jay’s last appearance aired in August (Credit: BBC) Jay’s final scene on EastEnders revealed Jay’s final scene actually aired last month, in a low-key sequence in the market. As Nicola looked on, she watched as Jay helped tie Lexi’s shoelace – head full of thoughts of her relationship with her own father. This scene, which aired on Tuesday, August 19, is the last time Jay was seen on the soap. With EastEnders typically filming six to eight weeks in advance of airing, it’s likely that this scene was shot shortly before he was suspended.
