Fans of EastEnders have rejoiced as former star Cheryl Fergison returned to screens for an episode of the hit BBC Two and iPlayer comedy Mandy. Cheryl played Walford icon Heather Trott between 2007 and 2012, before being brutally killed off.

Since then, the actress has appeared in episodes of Hard Sell, The Stand Up Sketch Show and Mr. Bigstuff. She appears in the first episode of the Diane Morgan comedy Mandy, which is streaming on BBC iPlayer now.

She appears in a brief scene as the titular character attends a restart scheme at her local job centre. Although she only has one line of dialogue in the episode, ‘Stella’ certainly makes an impact – describing Mandy as looking ‘dirty’ as talk turns to her choice of job-seeking attire.

Cheryl’s cameo came as a surprise to fans of the EastEnders legend, who took to social media to share their appreciation.

“Cheryl Fergison IS currently employed in BBC comedy ‘Mandy’. Ironically playing someone getting back into work. Congrats Cheryl! British Diamond in the rough,” wrote one fan on X.

“Obsessed with Cheryl ‘two words’ Fergison. She did a cracking job,” said another.

“Ar cheryl is in the new season of Mandy,” a third commented.

“Can we talk about the amount of cameos in mandy cuz what do u mean cheryl fergison and martin lewis casually popped up within the first ep of series 4?” said a fourth, drawing attention to the Money Saving Expert’s appearance in the same episode.

What happened to Heather Trott?

Cheryl was beloved by audiences for playing Shirley Carter’s best pal, Heather Trott. After joining the soap in 2007, Cheryl quickly became a fan favourite due to her cheery personality and often obsessive love of George Michael.

Sadly, Heather was also one of Walford’s more mistreated figures, suffering through a marriage to Minty Peterson – who saw her only as a friend – and engagement to Man Baby Andrew Cotton.

In 2009, she gave birth to son George Michael (of course) after a one-night-stand with local lad Darren Miller. She died a few years later, after being murdered by Ben Mitchell during an argument. Son George Michael is currently in the care of his dad, Darren.
