As war raged on between his parents, Lauren and Peter, Louie and brother Jimmy were caught in the crossfire. Wanting to protect his brother from their parents’ incessant arguing, Louie took it upon himself to remove Jimmy from the situation. And so he headed to the local park, where they sought refuge from their folks’ toxic relationship. Meanwhile, back home, Peter and Lauren were horrified to discover that the children had gone. As a search party was launched, Jay found the boys, and ushered them home to mum and dad. This serves as quite the wake up call for Lauren and Peter, who finally put their act together to think of the kids. Making him promise to never run away with Jimmy again, they re-iterated their love for each other – telling their son how proud they were that he’d tried to protect his brother. Later, as they went over the day’s events, Peter and Lauren decided to make a go of it (again) – putting the marriage back on the cards. Whatever the future might hold for the couple is unclear, but young star Jake McNally’s certainly seems promising. And his parents weren’t the only ones impressed by his show of maturity – so too, were the soap’s viewers. “Gotta say Eastenders Jake McNally (Louie Beale) is one of the best child actors they’ve ever had. Genuinely flawless performance.” wrote one fan on X. “Jake McNally has been incredible this week as Louie Beale. Louie’s scenes last night were absolutely devastating,” commented another. A third wrote: “The kid playing Louie is good..” “After his amazing acting in last week’s episodes, I really hope we see much more of this little fella. I appreciate that with him being a kid he’s limited as to the amount of work he can do, but he’s awesome, a proper little natural,” said another, over on Reddit.
