BBC/Composite: EastEnders Insider Share By Joel Harley Oct 17 2025 By Joel Harley Oct 17 2025 EastEnders fans slam 'repetitive' storylines as Harry's hostage ordeal continues.... only months after Bianca kidnapping Sound familiar? Bianca Jackson Harry Mitchell Share By Joel Harley Oct 17 2025 By Joel Harley Oct 17 2025 EastEnders fans have laid into a seemingly ‘repetitive’ storyline as Harry Mitchell found himself at the mercy of Okie Okyere – reminding many of a similar situation suffered by Bianca Jackson. Like Harry, Bianca found herself chained up at the hands of a nefarious kidnapper for weeks on end. In Bianca’s case, it was Reiss Colwell, who’d let Sonia take the blame after he killed his wife, Debbie. Bianca had uncovered the truth, only for Reiss to hold her hostage when she threatened to expose his crime. Fast-forward a few months, and Harry has suffered the same fate, after (falsely) admitting to stashing a hidden camera in Kojo’s flat. And with spoilers revealing that Harry’s captivity is only set to continue, it seems that he’ll be there for a while yet. Harry chained up? In exactly the same way as Bianca was? Honestly #EastEnders writers are either woefully lacking in originality or just have a real fetish for that chain around the ankle scenario. SO MANY OTHER WAYS for them to be sidelined in storylines!” “Any other Eastenders fans getting déjà vu with Harry’s kidnap storyline? I am of course talking about Reiss locking up Bianca around this time last year,” asked a third. “Ughh please don’t let Harry’s ‘chained-in-a-basement’ storyline drag on for as long as Bianca’s did ? as if this drug storyline couldn’t get any worse,” another wrote. Too soon? Reiss kept Bianca chained up for months (Credit: BBC) How did Bianca escape Reiss? After months of captivity, Bianca managed to escape Reiss thanks to his own carelessness. Escaping her chains when he left her padlock open, she then used a handy pair of bolt cutters to get out of the lock-up where he’d been holding her. She returned home just in time to rescue Sonia from Reiss, who had just confessed to killing Debbie and kidnapping Sonia. Knocking Reiss out with a teapot, Bianca managed to get Sonia to safety, although Reiss did escape soon after. He returned in late February, resulting in a showdown with Sonia when they became trapped in The Vic following an explosion (an explosion which was partly Reiss’s fault). Reiss was then killed with a falling bathtub. There’s hope for Harry in Bianca’s story – although it’s unlikely the falling bathtub will strike twice.
