Ross’s visit came as he learned that Joel was planning on pleading not guilty to attacking Vicki, causing her to spiral and attack Chelsea’s date, Damon. Realising how news of Joel had affected Vicki, Ross decided to make things right. He paid a visit to his son in the the detention centre where he’s being held, in the hope of making Joel see sense. Joel, meanwhile, seemed dismayed at the request, and was disappointed that his dad wasn’t standing by him. Hoping to appeal to Joel’s sense of empathy (big mistake) Ross revealed how badly Vicki had taken the attack. She’d gone on the warpath in The Vic, Ross revealed, and gotten argumentative with Chelsea’s date. This was all the confirmation Joel needed that he was right. He then launched into another woman-hating rant about Vicki’s behaviour, sticking his heels in over the not guilty plea. After all, he felt no guilt, so why should he plead guilty? Noticing Joel’s demeanour change when Ross updated him on Vicki, some wondered whether he might use her attack on Damon in his defence plea. “This is going to give Joel ammunition now to paint Vicki as the violent one in court,” wrote one fan on X. “Ross as usual has just made things ten times worse for Vicky, now Joel can just say Vicky attacked him first,” said another. “He just handed Joel ammunition to say that Vicki attacked him 1st. Whilst video is proof, it could give his lawyer a defence that Joel was a young boy who was provoked,” agreed a third. “Why are you feeding Joel info? Argh Ross,” another echoed.
