Jake Moon's return in early iPlayer episode reveals shocking link to Anthony murder twist

He's not just back for a social visit...

WARNING: This article is full of spoilers for today’s episode of EastEnders, which is streaming on BBC iPlayer now, but has not yet aired on BBC One – in which Jake Moon’s return causes shockwaves.

Jake Moon makes his long-awaited return to EastEnders today, and of course, he isn’t back for a family reunion… he’s back looking for answers about Chrissie.

Last week saw Zoe spooked when she got a visitor’s request from Jake. Confused because everyone thought he was dead, Zoe told Kat, who was equally as puzzled.

Wondering if it was Chrissie playing tricks on them, Kat persuaded Zoe to accept the request… only for her to come face-to-face with Jake in today’s episode (Monday, February 9).

Jake’s link to Anthony’s murder is revealed

Viewers have known since 2024 that Jake is alive after he made a brief return to the Square wth Chrissie. However, none of Jake’s family saw him, keeping the fact that he isn’t dead a secret.

Zoe is shocked to see Jake today. He wastes no time in demanding answers about what happened to Anthony on Christmas Day and how Chrissie is involved.

He is convinced that Zoe is guilty, but is stunned when Zoe claims Chrissie is the one with Anthony’s blood on her hands.

She demands to know where Chrissie is, thinking she can lead her to Jasmine. But Jake says he and Chrissie have broken up and he hasn’t seen her in months.

Zoe listens as Jake reveals what a nice life he and Chrissie have made together, but that it has all been ruined by Chrissie’s need for revenge on Zoe.

He tells Zoe that everything changed when Jasmine came into their lives, and he has been living on a canal boat in Camden since they split.

EastEnders: Jake Moon’s return causes shockwaves

Jake admits that he still loves Chrissie and has been torn over what to do. But when he reveals he’s been offered a job in France and is leaving, Zoe panics.

Realising Jake could not only be her key to finding Jamsine, but also getting out of jail, Zoe pleads for help.

But after hearing what Zoe has to say about Chrissie, Jake decides that he is better off without her. He tells Zoe he doesn’t want anything to do with the drama and leaves.

Kat tracks Jake down

Knowing that they need Jake’s help, Zoe calls Kat. She asks her to track Jake down at his canal boat and get answers.

Despite it being like looking for a needle in a haystack, Kat ropes Vicki into helping her. Surprisingly, they eventually find Jake’s boat – but he isn’t home.

What they do find, however, is a key hiding under a plant pot. As they let themselves in, what will they unearth?
