Max recruits a former arch enemy to bring down Jasmine in shocking early iPlayer episode

Can Max's new plan help him get rid of Jasmine for good?

WARNING: This article is full of spoilers for today’s episode of EastEnders, which is streaming on BBC iPlayer now, but has not yet aired on BBC One – in which Max makes a shocking alliance.

Max Branning’s world is hanging by a thread after Jasmine Fisher accused him of trying to kiss her. But today’s episode (Wednesday, January 21) sees Max make a surprise move in a desperate bid to get rid of the newcomer once and for all.

As soon as Max got whiff of the fact Jasmine wanted to leave Walford, he knew she was hiding something. He was also fuming that she was planning to take Oscar with her… just as father and son were starting to build bridges.

Jasmine accuses Max of the unthinkable

Oscar hasn’t taken too kindly to his dad’s interference. In fact, Max has only succeeded in pushing the pair closer together. And yesterday (Tuesday, January 20), Jasmine put the final nail in the coffin when she claimed that Max tried to kiss her in The Vic.

With a reputation like his, it is no surprise that Jasmine’s claims could be taken seriously. But while Oscar’s head is spinning, something doesn’t add up for Kat, and she struggles to believe her granddaughter.

As Kat turns to Jean to find out more about her theories that Jasmine killed Anthony, Max tries to plead his innocence to his family.

Lauren does damage control

Sick of mopping up his mess, Lauren tells Max to leave while she talks to Oscar. She tells her brother that he can’t leave just because Jasmine wants him to, and that he should make up his own mind for once and follow his gut.

But while Lauren is giving Oscar a pep talk, Max is on a mission to clear his name.

After Max chats with Linda, he feels relieved that she actually believes he’s innocent.

He then has a run-in with Cindy, who also tells him that she believes he didn’t try to kiss Jasmine. But she also gloats over the fact that she tried to warn him that Jasmine is poison. And when Max asks her for help with Jasmine, she tells him this is karma for what happened to Steven.

EastEnders: Max and Cindy team up

However, Cindy later changes her tune after a run-in with Jasmine herself. The pair have cross words, and Jasmine shows her true colours, telling Cindy she will never forget the buzz she got from pushing her down the stairs.

She then threatens Cindy, telling her that next time she wouldn’t even have to get her hands dirty. Instead she’d track down the Fords to do the dirty work for her.

Just the mere mention of the notorious Ford family, who forced her into witness protection for over two decades, is enough to terrify Cindy. Knowing that she needs to get rid of Jasmine, she calls Max, and the pair join forces.

All bad blood between them forgotten for the time being, Max and Cindy plot to bring Jasmine down once and for all. But will they succeed, or are they playing with fire?
