EastEnders review: Zoe made a shocking revelation, Sharon returned and Jasmine arrived

We're not convinced Zoe is telling the truth about her baby daddy!

Our EastEnders review this week is  all about the women! From Sharon and Vicki taking on Zoe, to Stacey’s slightly bonkers plan to leave Walford, and two intriguing newcomers in Demi and Jasmine. Not to mention the return of Enders icon Ritchie.

And frankly it was a bit of a relief after a lot of men throwing their weight around for the last few weeks.

Here’s what we thought of the action in this week’s EastEnders review.

Queen Sharon returned

Sharon is home! And she came face to face with Zoe Slater. And it was a bit disappointing at first when Shaz was all feisty but actually pretty reasonable.

Den Watts’s murder (second murder, if we’re being accurate) and the Zoe/Sam/Chrissie power play that followed is still one of our favourite Enders storylines of all time.

Sharon’s involvement via her marriage to Dennis – the love of her life – gave the whole thing an extra edge. So long story short, we are super excited that this story is being revisited.

And when Sharon gave Zoe her blessing to stay in Walford, saying “family’s family” we were a bit deflated. That wasn’t what we’d expected from this reunion.

Vicki and Zoe fight in EastEnders

Vicki channeled her inner Pauline Fowler

With Sharon on her back about repaying her debt, and her worries about Joel on her mind, Vicki was stressed before she bumped into Zoe in the Square. So when the pair exchanged insults things escalated very quickly! Vicki was definitely channeling her inner Pauline Fowler – her gran – as she got stuck into Zoe, giving Zack an accidental thump into the bargain.

It was completely brilliant. Classic Enders!

EastEnders review: Zoe’s a terrible person

Meanwhile Zoe was swanning around Walford being entitled and unpleasant. She barely acknowledged Kat’s efforts in getting lawyer-extraordinaire Ritchie to get her out of police custody. She threw her toys out of the pram when Kat wanted to know what really happened with Greg, and asked questions about her babies.

Frankly, she deserved the slap that Vicki gave her!

And as if that wasn’t bad enough, Zoe then announced to Sharon that Dennis Rickman – who was married to Shaz at the time – was the biological dad of her twins.

What?!

EastEnders review: Is Zoe lying?

WHAT on earth is going on here then? Zoe made the shocking announcement that she’d slept with Dennis before she left Walford – breaking Sharon’s heart in the process.

But we are pretty sure that she is lying about Dennis being the dad of her babies. When Zoe left Albert Square, she and Dennis weren’t on good terms – he’d cheated with Sharon, and she’d cheated with Dennis’s dad Den. Plus, Dennis and Sharon seemed happy – in fact, they were planning to leave Walford for a new life in Brighton.

And Zoe was a total wreck. Full of guilt over Den’s death and her part in it. Broken after the breakdown of her relationship with Kat. She was not in a good place.

Just as she’s not in a good place right now!

It definitely doesn’t ring true to us that Dennis is her baby daddy. We’re fairly sure she’s just saying that to get Sharon to cough up the cash to track down her son.

EastEnders review: Peter hits it off with Demi
Surely there has to be a reason for Demi flirting with Peter?! (Credit: BBC)

What’s the deal with Demi?

Demi rocked up in Walford this week, fluttering her eyelashes at Peter Beale – weird. After a bit of prodding from Penny, Lauren caught up with the newcomer and they seemed to be friendly. But we’re not sure about Demi. Is she just a plot device to get Lauren and Peter closer? Or is she going to be more troublesome?

EastEnders review: What’s the juice on Jasmine?

Meanwhile, another newcomer arrived – Jasmine. She strolled into a job at The Albert, got Bobby sacked, and got the gossip on Cindy from Oscar.

Enders fans immediately began wondering if Jasmine could be Zoe’s daughter? After all, though she thinks her baby girl died, we never actually heard anyone say the words.

Others were convinced the newbie could spell danger for her new boss – Cindy. Jasmine seemed very interested when Oscar was explaining how Cindy faked her own death. Could she be linked with Jackie Ford – Cindy’s dangerous nemesis?

Or could Demi be the dangerous one? Is Jasmine just a red herring to distract Cindy from the actual enemy who’s just arrived?
